November 17, 2007, 11:28am (report abuse)I don't understand WHY there are so many votes against H.R. 243. I believe that ANY soldier, whether a "newbie" or an old hand with 20 + years deserves special monetary compensation for being wounded during a war situation. My son was just short of his first eight years when an insurgents bullet ended his military career AND his civilian career. So far the VA has been severely lacking in support for him, and the Army retired him before the ink was dry on his DD214. Most services offered have been denied because of his lack of 20 years of service and he has struggled finacially and emotionally since he was wounded in 2004...he had just turned 24 years old. Please don't do our heroes another DISSERVICE by voting down H.R. 243.

March 16, 2008, 9:31am (report abuse)Absolutely! These men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me; whether it took place 2 days after entering the combat zone or 20 years!! They are left to bear the brunt of fighting for us and with no support of those they fought for in the first place? This country needs to support those who supported them, reguardless of how long they served before tey got wounded! -US ARMY wife of 2 deployments so far
