Cities and watersheds discharging to the Mississippi River need credible research and science on water quality in the Mississippi River. Without this information it will be a shot in the dark on how to best manage the Mississippi River and meet future regulatory requirements of the Clean Water Act (TMDLs). The Government has an obligation to the public and businesses to maintain / improve Water Quality within the Mississippi River so there will be a viable and sustainable resource that keeps Amercia economically strong. Short term interests and market forces will not provide us this security ovrer the long run. This is a central role and responsibility of our government.
