This is a simple, humane, and practical amendment that will prevent female soldiers from having to interupt their military service because of an unplanned pregnancy. It is morally necessary because women soldiers run a shamefully common risk of being raped or coerced by their fellow soldiers or superiors into unwanted sexual relations. To then punish the victim by requiring that she carry the rapist's child instead of carrying out the mission for which she volunteered is an outrageous betrayal of everything our nation stands for.

I am a female currently serving in the U.S. Army and I am shocked that emergency contraception is not already available for sevicemembers. If I were foced into unwanted sexual realations I would definitely want to at least have the choice available to me. It is imperative that we respect the rights that service women have and the risks that they face whether they are at home or on deployment. If it is a legal substance for civillian use and we are presciribing the drug at Planned Parenthood, why can we not offer the same care to the women that are defending our country?

I emailed Congressman John Sullivan of Oklahoma and shared my thoughts on this. I received a call back from his office and expressed my thoughts verbally. Call your congressman and let him/her know that you as a female voter support this humane bill.

I was shocked and appalled when I first found out about this situation. All soldiers are soldiers, wherever they are. The government accepted that responsibility when they enlisted women in the same capacity as men, and so, therefore, their rights should be protected whatever they are doing or wherever they are serving.Women are now playing ball in the same arena as males, but unfortunately have to watch their backs because of some of their own players? You cannot erase the damages of abuse. You can only learn to live with it. This is a lifetime injury. Whatever is needed should be made available to servicewomen, as a normal part of care. I support Senator Clinton in her efforts.
