H.R. 1889 would require prisons and other correctional facilities holding Federal prisoners under a contract with the Federal Government to make the same information available to the public that Federal prisons and correctional facilities are required to do by law.

The extremely dangeous for-profit prison industry acts in secret, conceals the true nature of its shortcomings, and has not been subject to freedom of information statutes that would allow members ofthe public to access for themselves how bad it is.
