H.R. 1874, The Technological Resource to Assist Criminal Enforcement (TRACE) Act (2 comments ↓)
H.R. 1874 would amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to require microstamping of all firearms manufactured in or imported into the United States, and ballistics testing of all firearms in the custody of the Federal Government.

This is nothing less than an effort to dissuade the importation of firearms into the U.S. as well as cripple domestic manufacture by dramatically increasing production costs and liabilities! This is a de facto tax on firearms, and is yet one more tool that can be used to eventually disarm the law abiding citizens.
