November 15, 2007, 8:38am (report abuse)I hope this bill will pass to provide basic protections to municipal employees. I have worked in the public sector for over 15 years and find it sad that most local governments do not hold themselves to the same minimum standards as the private indusry.
The public sector is very regulatory driven. The majority of them do not (and will not) take measures unless required to do so.
I maintain injury statisitics for a group of fifty city and county governments. Unbelieveably, 11% of a city/county workforce incur an injury annually resulting medical treatment (dr's. visit).
