On the day I processed for retirement, I obtained a part time position teaching in the inner city of Springfield, MA. For the 2006 tax year, I earned @28,366 and received an additional $15,000 in Social Security. The wages were well over the $12,480 limit, and I've been asked to repay $7952 to SSA. I've requested a waiver because the last three years, bills have pended and died in Congress to eliminate the earnings limitation of $12,480 which is absurd. Also my wife left me along with half the household income and in refinancing the house my mortgage doubled. I'm told the bill cannot get out of committee because it's part of a larger SSA bill to recieve enormous changes. Still, I'm directly impacted, and have written my senators and reps, but to no avail. I have a hearing tomorrow, 8/28/07, at SSA to discuss my request for a waiver.

Please pass this bill ASAP.

ITS KIND OF HYPOCRITICAL FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO DISCOURAGE SENIORS 62 YEARS OLD FROM APPLYING FOR SOCIAL SECURITY WITH A 25% REDUCTION IN BENEFITS, 12960 PER YEAR EARNINGS LIMIT, AND A BACK ENDED TAX OF 50%. HOWEVER, WITH FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL, AND FICA TAXES THE PENALTY COULD BE 100%. ONTHESE ACTIONS THE OTHER HAND THE GOVERNMENT GOES INTO THE SAME SOCIAL SECURITY FUNDS THEY ARE DISCOURAGING US FROM AND BORROW TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS. THESE ACTIONS BORDER ON A CONFLICT OF INTEREST AND CRIMIAL ACTS. HOPEFULLY, SOON THIS SOCIAL SECURITY EARNINGS TEST WILL BE REPEALED FOR ALL SENIORS.

I've worked and contributed to the Social Security System since I was 16 years old. At the age of 63 I filed for my benefits only to find that their is a $12,000 per year earning limit until I reach 65 and half.
After the age of 65 and a half, then there's no earning limits. Who comes up with this stuff? Can you imagine the US revenue and SS loss with people from age 62 to 65 to limit their earnings to $12,000 per year.
Now because of some family medical expenses last year, I was forced to increase my earnings over the allowed limits and find myself losing my benefits and having to go back to work in order make the SS over payments.

Thank you very Much US Government.

Please support U.S Bill H.R.149 to repeal the Social Security Earning Limitation Act and notify your US Congressman to pass this bill ASAP.

WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT DRAG THEIR HEELS ON SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFIT LEGISLATION AND APPROVE QUICKLY ALL WAR AND FOREIGN GIVE-OUTS OVERNIGHT?

I CAN NOT BELEIVE HOW OUR CONGRESS AND SENATE CAN BE SO ANTI-AMERICAN ON SOCIAL SECURITY ISSUES AND SPEND MONIES ABROAD LIKE THEIR IS TOMORROW..

I WILL TALK THIS ISSUE WITH MY CONSTITUENTS UNTIL MY VOICE IS SHATTERED. SHAME ON COINGRESS!
15% RATING?
GOD BLESS AMERICA. I KNOW CONGRESS WONT!.

I took early retirement to get out of the airline industry and my pension was limited because I left at age 60. So, at 62 I took Social Security which was diminished by 25%, but I just couldn't handle working for the airlines anymore. After I started SS I got a part time job as a poorly paid phlebotomist at a local hospital and I cannot work beyond the SS earnings limit or I become penalized. Penalty, penalty, penalty. This is so un-American to do this. Most everyone is better off working, it keeps a person healthy, but the US Govt likes to box people up and loves to categorized them. I paid fully into SS and while I work part-time I am paying into SS. Why not let me work full-time, pay into the SS system and let me draw my SS benefits, that the US govt happily taxes (again) and help keep me taking care of myself rather than becoming a burden to my fellow citizens. This is shameful. Please support H.R. 247 of 2007.

Why would our government stop people from the age of 62 - 65 from earning as much as they can and pay taxes on these earnings, while collecting SS.
You would think that the government would be glad to collect taxes on as much money as possible. I don't understand it. We need to request our senator and congressmen to get HR 149 acted on. It's good for all concerned. Remove the cap now
