Who are we as a Nation? These routes tell part of the story. They are national treasures and, as such, should be found, marked, and preserved to help future generations to know the trials and tribulations that our ancestors took part in to settle this great nation. Please give your support to this bill.

Marley Shurtleff

The western migration trails are a remarkable heritage for the people of the United States. Please support the feasibility and suitability studies for the four trails.

Glenn Harrison

The Western Migration Trails are an important link to our past. We need to support this important bill that would cause a study of the segments and cutoffs often used by emigrants as they moved to their future.

Robert Clark

The trails to the West are an integral and valuable part of our heritage. They need preservations in the same way that other historic sites do. Please vote yes on this legislation.

Duane A. Iles

The story of the addition of the west to our country is told through the migratory trails. The original statute was a beginning. This will further develop the story as a piece of the heritage we leave to our grandchildren. Please enact this bill. Thank you.

As National Oregon-California Trails Association Mapping Chair and Idaho's Trails Preservation Officer I have been researching and mapping the Goodale's Cutoff, one of the trails covered in this bill, and I can say it was an important historic trail and well used by emigrants. It also set a standard and route for travel in parts of Idaho and Oregon for 4 decades! A volumnous book on the Cutoff and the history of Tim Goodale is forthcoming. JWMc

Oil and Gas development needs guidelines for protection of the trails that are not already designated National Historic Trails

John Murphy

America needs to honor the estimated 350,000 emigrants who with considerable hardship traversed half of our continent to settle the West and effectively join it to the eastern half. Faint traces of their routes are all that remain of this historical migration and need to be preserved in all their variants. Please, support the bill S.580.
