H.R. 1279, The Direct Support Professionals Fairness and Security Act of 2007 (4 comments ↓)
H.R. 1279 would amend title XIX of the Social Security Act to provide funds to States to enable them to increase the wages paid to targeted direct support professionals in providing services to individuals with disabilities under the Medicaid Program.

Support this bill and help the many workers who take of individuals with disabilities when know one else will. These people sometimes make less than fast food workers but have the lives and care of our mothers, daughters, sons, aunts, uncles etc who cannot take care of themselves

We can spend money on Iraq, but we cant support our own people here in the states, WHATS WRONG WITH THAT??? These workers should be making at least 10 dollars an hour and yearly increases based on performance. I am outraged that my son who is Autistic may loose his staff that have worked with him for years because OUR government is to cheap to give a little more to where more is needed.

The work that DSPs do should not go without recognition and well deserved pay increases!People in this field are strong and caring towards individuals,we are losing these special people to other better paying jobs!Please lets stop this sad cycle!!!!!
