H.R. 5865, enacted as Public Law 109-250, amends section 1113 of the Social Security Act, raising the limit on emergency assistance funds provided to U.S. citizens returning from foreign countries. The act raises the emergency funding limit for fiscal year 2006.
H.R. 5865 also allows state Food Stamp agencies to access the National Directory of New Hires (NDNH) to verify employment and wage information for food stamp recipients.
