God gave parents this right at birth. Although some parents didn't deserve that right I think it mind boggling we are fighting for, or even voting on these rights. We are no better than third world countries selling their babies for profit only in America we have a governmental legal child black market paid for by taxpayers....

I support this bill. Activists who have websites have a different perspective because they hear from people all over the United States. I am for it I also think that it is a shame that our government should even have to make a bill for it. If they hadn't given away the rights to begin with we wouldn't be in this mess. I guess now they are feeling bad about all the children that have died because of the mess they made....

Will vote for any bill that helps keep families together and intact ! Instead of being ripped out of their parents arms for something that is perceived as wrong by somewone who probably doesn't even have children....

Way too many children are taken unnecessarily due to state intervention. The "family" is becoming broken and children are loosing their heritage. I vote yes, keep families together, stop the TPR in 12 months, give parents a chance.8t11n18t...

American Family Rights Association strongly endorses this bill and encourages anybody who cares about American Freedom, Liberty, and Justice to support it. We are not especially happy with the "highest order" verbiage, because CPS already believes their home invasions and kidnappings are "of the highest order" and justification to operate with no authority, far outside of the Constitution. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) has already been De Facto- (de facto –noun actually existing, esp. when without lawful authority) -in force ever since the passage of the CAPTA Act of 1974. There appears to be some concerns regarding the Parental Rights Amendment that was recently introduced by US Congressman Pete Hoekstra. Section 2 does NOT interrupt Section 1. In fact, it raises the evidentiary standard and defines "strict scrutiny." Remember that a Constitutional Right may be abridged by a compelling state interest as long as it is the "least intrusive" to serve that purpose. Section two strengthens the position of strict scrutiny. Some have indicated Nancy Schaeffer might have an issue with this, and I will discuss this with her in the coming weeks. I already discussed it live on the air with Phyllis Schlafly, National Director of Eagle Forum and she gave an interview and supports the Amendment whole-heartedly. Also Concerned Women for America President Wendy Wright also stands behind this issue 100%. I also interviewed the Home School Legal Defense Attorney, who explains this issue a bit better as well....

I think that everyone should consider these before trying to analyze what is a well-known method for challenging a law. The strict scrutiny and "least intrusive means" are very handy and would allow most CPS Civil issues to be challenged unless you voluntarily waived your rights like many do at the early onset of these type of cases. This Parental Rights Amendment draws a notable line in the sand, to insure the slippery slope doesn't continue to erode our parental rights. It must be established to limit judicial erosion. If many would like to have a conference call on this issue, I can get some attorneys, a Congressman, or whatever to co-host and we can do it sometime in the near future. Just let me know. You people need to know about this... If we sign the UN's child act "they" can take our children and teach them what they see fit... This keeps the UN & the Feds out of our homes!! This is not about child abuse it's about keeping children safe and with their parents. No one should vote for anything that helps abuse children. But we, in this day and time, need to protect our children and our rights as PARENTS!!!...

Detailed Summary

Constitutional Amendment - States that the liberty of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children is a fundamental right.

States that neither the United States nor any state shall infringe upon this right without demonstrating that its government interest as applied to the child involved is of the highest order and not otherwise served.

States that no treaty may be adopted nor shall any source of international law be employed to supersede, modify, interpret, or apply to the rights guaranteed by this amendment.
