When my son was diagnosed with Dyslexia and I asked the public schools where they could place him they said that our community has a large transient community and there is not the time or money for any kind of special classes. I worked weekends, plus my regular job to get special help and finally put him in Sterne School in SF, where he received an excellent education. Every cent spend was not covered by any type of health insurance and no help was avaiable through public education.

The upshot is that he grew up great, has his own business and home....

I agree. Why would anyone be against this? Unless the schools are too lazy to evaluate and they may have to actually DO something?

It only took 36 hours to get the lowest scoring kids to grade level because there was teacher trained in dyslexia here in this lowperfoming school. Early intevention PAYS it forward. Right now our futre prisons are based on 3rd grade reading failure rate. It costs about 8-12 K to educate a child per year for 12 years. it costs 40K to per year to keep and inmate and he may be in a lifetime!
