H.R. 2978 would amend title 5, United States Code, to increase the maximum age to qualify for coverage as a "child" under the health benefits program for Federal employees.

Detailed Summary

Includes an unmarried dependent child who is under 25 years of age (currently, under age 22) or incapable of self-support because of a mental or physical disability that existed before age 25 (currently, before age 22) as a member of a federal employee's family who is eligible for coverage under the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.

I can't say enough about the passage of this bill. It's very hard to come up with college money for your child. Having additional health coverage costs burden the the load on families who have given their career life in the federal government....

It's about time! The President preaches health coverage for all. Meanwhile, full-time college students who are Federal dependents are being kicked out of their FEHB health care coverage....
