Having worn a gun belt in Vietnam, 27 years for the USSS, and 12 years as a Deputy it is time this bill passed to right a wrong that needs to be corrected. Pass HR 2219....

Thanks to Rep. Platt & Van Hollen for their interest by trying to give us what has been earned by the retirees. I protected protectees for 27 1/2 years, serve a tour in Viet Nam, 11 years with Homeland Security at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center during 911 now after 911 still a part of making this country safe from intruders that has a vested interest in trying to make our lives miserable, that we have worked so hard to enjoy at the end of our faitful service. It is time folks to give the retirees what is rightfully ours....

I am a retired U.S.Secret Service Uniformed Division Officer. I believe that passage of this legislation is necessary to amend the injustice we have experienced for many years as a result of an oversight in previous legislation affecting our annuities. H.R. 2219 would amend the Law Enforcement Pay Equity Act of 2000 to permit certain annuitants of the retirement programs of the United States Park Police and United States Secret Service Uniformed Division to receive the adjustments in pension benefits to which such annuitants would otherwise be entitled as a result of the conversion of members of the United States Park Police and United States Secret Service Uniformed Division to a new salary schedule under the amendments made by such Act.

Detailed Summary

Federal Law Enforcement Pension Adjustment Equity Act of 2009 - Amends the Law Enforcement Pay Equity Act of 2000 to apply a prohibition against treatment as an increase in salary, for purposes of increased annuitant pension benefits, of the conversion of positions and members of the U.S. Park Police and the Secret Service Uniformed Division to a new salary schedule, and the associated initial adjustments in basic pay rates, with respect to any payment made before January 1, 2009. (Thus permits cost-of-living adjustments in pension benefits for annuitants of the U.S. Park Police and the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division for payments made through calendar 2008.)

If anything it is a government's moral responsibility to care of society's pillars through and through once those pillars have been retired. Rep. Platts and Van Hollen's Bill would do just that....

As a retired member of the Secret Service Uniformed Division I appreciate Rep. Platts, Van Hollen and the sponsors for their support of H.R.2219. It has now been 8 years since the retired members of the Secret Service Uniformed Division and U.S. Park Police were denied the benefit they deserve by law. Please pass this bill....

I retired from the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division in 1995. I had twenty seven (27) years of faithful service. As you are aware we were left off the Pay Act of 2000. The Police and Fire act "clearly states that retirees will receive the same benefits that active personnel receive. I ask that the Congress right this wrong.....

My Uncle retired from the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division. I remember him taking me to the White House on different occasions. I also remember how proud he was of his job. I know he worked hard for everything he got and all he asked in return was what he was due. He and the rest of the retirees are due the pay raise that they deserve and were told their whole career that they would have. Please pass this bill, it is the right thing to do....

Kudos to Rep. Platts and Van Hollen for trying to correct the injustice to the men and women of the U. S. Secret Service Uniformed Division and the U. S. Park Police. We are not asking for anything other than what was originally promised us at the beginning of our careers. The passing of this bill will help the members and their families to live a better life. This Bill will give Congress the opportunity to correct the injustice by passing the bill. Thank You!!...

As the sister of a retired USSS/UD Officer, I know how hard he worked and how dedicated he was to the job. He and all the others deserve what is long over due to them. Please pass HR 2219, it is the right thing to do for these hard working men and women....

This injustice has gone on too long. Eight years that we have been denied pay adjustments needs to be rectified now. The orignal intent & law was that retirees would get a raise when active members received one....

I began my service (1958) to my country US Army/US Secret Service Uniformed Division (29 yrs.). My law enforcement career allowed me to retire under DC retirement system, but then something went wrong. The US Congress decided that they would break a promise to me and members of our retirement orginization by repealing parts of a long standing contract that had been in law from 1923. It is my hope that after 8 years this Congress comes to their senses and rectifies a wrong. Please support HR-2219 and related bills....

I commend Mr. Platt for reintroduc ing HR 2219,an injustice that has been going on for eight long years. This bill only involves only a small amount of retires and compared to the billions that are spent on other bills,is only a drop in the bucket. We have been trying for eight years to get this done, and as some bills are passed in a short amount of time, this should have been taken care of a long time ago. So I ask as well as my fellow retires to Please support this Legislation, and to get this done as soon as possible. Thank You...

I would strongly urge the members of Congress to enact this Bill, HR 2219, The Federal Law Enforcement Pension Adjustment Equity Act of 2009, as quickly as possible. The expenditure for this Bill would not negatively effect the budget of the District of Columbia or that of the U.S. Government. As a child of a Secret Service Uniformed Division officer, I am very aware of the dangers that the men and women of Law Enforcement put their lives on the line for every single day. Why is it that they are not being given the dues that they are so entitled to. Congress can vote themselves a pay raise but not give it to those that protect, how is that fair? Congress' lives more important? Not according to the Declaration of Independence "that all men are created equal"...

This is a chance for the members of Congress to right the wrong by passing HR 2219. This is pay that we deserve by law and is way over due. The amount of money here is yet a drop in the ocean when you look at all the private sector bail outs. It's time to take care of your own. Thank you Rep. Tom Platts and Rep. My Brother-IN-Law was a member of the U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division for over 24 years. Him and others put their lives on the line every day for people like you. In todays world they are all heroes in my book. They deserve by law to have HR 2219 passed ASAP. Thank you and please support this bill....
