Thank you for something that is long overdue. Many of us who served were permanently maimed by the gun fire, artillery, jet engine or machinery noise that we were subjected to in the military. As you all know, the degree of noise exposure in the military far exceeds the normal occupational exposures in civilian life. However, many of us who have permanent hearing loss are not compensated by the VA. Hearing loss is not a subjective disability...testing is precise and it's easy to determine whether the of loss was caused by service and if so, the degree of loss. Thank you Senator!...

I am thankful that someone has proposed a bill that states if you damaged the merchandise you pay for it.
I entered the army with 1 under my hearing after 14 years of tanks, machine guns, and other weapons I left with a 3 under my hearing. I spent the next ten years having people repeat things to me because they told when I retired that they did not have an aid for my type of hearing loss. Last year they gave me a hearing aid when I went to have it fitted the doctor fitting it immediately told me that this hearing aid will not reach your required level of loss??? I asked why am I getting it then? I wore it for two weeks and soon learned that since it could not reach my level of loss I was saying "what" a lot more often. I teach school and all of sudden I could hear things that before I was not hearing but I could not understand what they were saying. I feel that since my hearing was damaged during my career then I should be compensated. Please pass this bill....

Long overdue. Many servicemembers served in ratings that placed them in extremely high noise areas resulting in moderate to profound hearing loss. Unfortunately the present broken system doesn't recognize moderate earing loss as a disability. This is a small token of equity fo those that served honorably and suffered a life affecting disability....

Absolutely a smart adjustment and in line with the general idea that servicemen and women with service connected injuries requiring treatment should be compensated for loss of quality of life alone, let alone the economic impact connected with long-term continued medical care....
