I cannot believe vets getting 100% SC are complaining here! Tax exemption on home, education for kids and spouse, military ID & privileges, treatment for anything at the VAMC as a priority with no co-pay!
Nowhere in the world is the veteran taken care of as well as here. 5.8% is fine with me. It should be fine with all....

Comment by Disabled Vet in California (November 10, 2008, 01:00:00)

To the donkey's who say we are "whining"-VA Compensation isn't payment made to any and all vets, it is made to DISABLED vets, like myself, whose service to this country resulted in a life altering injury. I personally went from the rank of SSG after 8 years (at age 26) in the Army to working at a fast food joint (sitting on a chair ringing people up) because the IED that blew my foot off left me unable to stand for long periods. The Associates in Criminal Justice degree I have to go into law enforcement does me no good now, as the CHP Academy wont accept me. But please, continue to label people like me as "crying" about not getting what is due. My injury surely hasn't effected my ability to care for my family...

Compensation is meant to be just that... Compensating those injured in the line of duty for what we have lost, including the ability to provide for our families....

I think we are being hit inn the head once more buy the same people that vote themselves a raise each year and don't have to pay for anything now. They fly for free they eat for free. They even bring their families with them when the fly overseas. As for Alan you need to respect others and their right to be discontent with this sad government that we supported as military members. We have earned the right to complain about these issues. You must be a McCain supporter....

Mike and Richard, sometime back it was mentioned that we vets have been at the same disability rates since the mid, I believe '50s. It was suggested that in order to keep up with todays $$$, at least a 25% overall increase should be implemented. I have searched the internet and have come up stone cold on any information on that one.
Actually, can you imagine what that would cost the govt? I know, I know, 700 Billion. But, I am happy with my 100%sc. Whatever we get, we should consider ourselves lucky. MOSt other countries don't pay vets for injuries, much less whine about what kind of cola we are gonna get. Oh, and V.B. I am a strong McCain supporter, but the house and senate is made up of superior numbers of Dems who have the control of the houses. Complain to your Dem leaders. You have earned that right. The last two years are all Dem controlled!!

I'm 70% there is no way I could live on that. I work as a DVOP (half of the Grant for this program after each state takes their cut is taken by the privatized Workforce boards to pay $20,000 a year kick backs to the companies on the board to do things like teach executives CPR at the Red cross and call it EWT) I have an MBA and don't make $30 K. I have not had a day with out pain that would have people like Alan go crying to the ER. I work with veterans everyday that are becoming or are homeless, laid off and thrown away but lets pat the greedy little brats of wall street on the head and send them on their way. Guess is the 25% was just a election plug we might see 6.5% from what I have heard....

The CPI for July was 6.4% and Cola's are usually tied to that. Aug and Sept have to be analyzied to see what it was for those months. We WILL know mid October.
Some say it will be 2.8% I don't know where they come up with their numbers (Fuzzy math)sound familiar?
1987 they gave and 8.7% increase. Don't even remember it, but it happened! Stay tuned, ears to the ground. Wait till MID October.......
