After three (3) Medical Boards I finally accepted their recommendation and was Medically Retired with a 50% disability rating; with just over 16 years 4 months. I wasn't in any war however, I trained and attempted to stay with in the same standards as the Army requires to date. With that said, I've spent a lot of time on surgery tables and in some cases repeated surgery’s to correct their inadequate procedures. I was retired for the benefit of the Armed Forces my DD214 is listed as “RETIRED PERMANTLEY” so it’s time to reap the benefits of my service. I gave you my youth, Give me and my Family what we so strive for....

I served honorably for 13.5 years (had tenure) and planned on doing 20 to 25. Only I was forced to retire on medical disability from the Navy with a full permanent 100% disability rating and given 90% disability from the VA along with being deemed 100% IU. This should be an all or nothing issue, otherwise the government is setting themselves up for a class action law suit for discrimination against Chapter 61 Veterans which to my dismay now includes several Veterans returnng home from Afghanistan and Irag. NO DISPARITY BUT EQUALITY UNDER THE LAW!...

I served 12 years and unfortunately for me I was unable to retire because I suffered a disablity that lead to my 100% disablity. I would have retired, but my career was cut short. I believe that this is an excellent bill....

During my third tour in Vietnam, I was wounded in action. I spent 14 months in the U.S> Naval Hospital in Philadelphia and then was retired medically with an honarable discharge. I am an 80% disabled Vietnam-Era Veteran who did not have the opportunity to serve my twenty-years for a normal retirment pension from the military. Now retired in personal life, the pension offered in H.R. 89 would definitely help support us in the future years. I strongly urge the support and passing of the critical bill for many of us veterans....

I served 20 years, including 3 years as a POW in North Korea. I had to retire from Civil Service after 12 years due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Because I waived my Military Annuity to combine my Military Service with my Civil Service, I now do not qualify for CRSC. Can someone help veterans like me with this problem?...

I was forcefully retired just after my eight year mark in the Air Force. I had only 2 years left on my second enlistment wanting only to reenlist again. Unfortunately life throws a few curve balls and one had struck me hard. After fighting to stay in I walked to first with an Air Force retirement of 60%. I was then able to steal second after a year of combat with Social Security Disabilty. Finally as soon as my 1 1/2 year battle w/ Veterans Affairs was over, I later took third with a VA rating of 100% plus a SMC. Now, I'm just waiting for this bill to pass so I can finally make it to home.

Pass this bill! Don't forget about the Soldiers that have did time. It may not have been 20, but we did time. We were forced out not because of dishonorable conduct, but because of a honorable disability.

Senator Bill Nelson of Florida please Vote Yea for this bill. Your vote will count and then so will mine....

I am currently at 70% and a chapter 61 retiree. I had 18 yrs, 11 mos, 29 days total service. For the lack of one year and a days I cannot draw my full retirement. We need the support of all veterans to get this measure pasted. Contact your representative daily if necessary to work for passage. They have their retirement, give us ours....

Am drawing 100% VA pay for disabilities sustained during a peacetime training exercise. (Individual Unemployability). I had 17 and a half active duty years, both Army and Air Force; and had all intentions to make my full 20 years. Many thanks from this Veteran in advance to all lawmakers that will sign and support this bill. Thanks especially to Senator Harry Reid (D), Senate Majority Leader from Nevada....

As a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran, medically retired due to my exposure to Agebt Orange, I'm hoping this bill is enacted & passed. My wife has just been diagnosed w/terminal cancer. We can use any extra money that we can get right now. I only had nine years of service so this bill will go far in helping us.
Bless you! Rep. Bilirikas!!!!! ...
