I agree with most of what was said, and we do need to think about doing something about the entertainment. Their not here for us to laugh at, their here for us to love and take care of. Play with, and treat right. Would you want to be treated like that? Hunt down and shot? Kicked, beat, or much worse? I know I don't want that to happen to me. Let alone any other living creature....

Mankind needs to be held accountable for their abusive and neglectful actions against animals and punished severely. Legislators make this happen to protect all the innocent animals and humans from the criminals!!!!!...

Personally I won't be satisfied until the punishment for animal abuse is that the abuser is sentenced to the same punishment they forced upon the animal. If they find this unfair, think of how the animal felt. And what "kyork" said is true. I gave a speech on animal cruelty and that was one of my main points. If we don't do something about this now, 50yrs down the road where will society be? The children of today are growing up seeing baby seals being clubbed for sport, animals tortured for vain purposes, and so much more. If this continues, imagine what their children will see....

Animal cruelty is wrong, yes, i think we all agree on that, but stopping the "eating, wearing, and using animals for entertainment"? No way. Concerning entertainment, s long as the animals are kept safe and in good health, there is no problem with using these creatures. And stopping the "eating and wearing" of animals, that is conpletely obsurd. What about hunting? Bring an end to that too????? Better think that over a little more....

H.R. 6597 would require the collection of data on animal cruelty crimes.

Animal Cruelty Statistics Act of 2008 - Directs the Attorney General to change existing Department of Justice (DOJ) crime data bases so that data on all crimes of animal cruelty will be collected and made publicly available in a manner that facilitates analysis.

Keeping track of animal cruelty in a data base is an excellent idea and should have been thought of sooner. I applaud Chairman Conyers, Rep. Gallegly, Rep. Nadler, Rep. Van Hollen, and Rep. Moran for introducing this bill. I strongly encourage other House members to co-sponsor and support this legislation as quickly as possible....

If you not aware, animal cruelty is directly related to larger crimes. such as murder, torture, rape and even worse. please allow the collection of data as it may save one of your relatives lives....
