I would personally love to support this bill but absolutely can not as it is written. It is too vague. Size Shape ** OR ** Appearance?? I have no idea what he is talking about specifically so I am not sure whether to commend him or get on the phone to my congressman and try to kick this bill out ASAP. Lets talk about a few things that still have DO a place in most of our good old USA... BB Guns - I can not imagine someone calling a BB gun a toy... It is most certainly not, and should be called out in the bill as exempted as being a real weapon using non-lethal ammunition. Sport Weapons - Lets not forget Paintball and Airsoft... Both are sports that involve using fairly expensive markers to "Shoot" each other. I also heartily doubt that Airsoft Guns or Paintball Guns would be considered toys. (Most states require the purchaser to be 18.) I think if he is talking about realistic looking plastic guns / cap guns designed as true toys, he's exactly right. They serve no purpose other than MIS-Education of our children. Basically kids need to know that pointing a gun at something and pulling the trigger results in utter destruction of whatever was in your sights... even if it was you or your sibling. Exposing kids to guns that do not honor this trait simply mis-educates the kids. BB guns, Paintball and Airsoft at least honor the spirit of a true gun and will destroy (or at least bring pain) to whatever they point it at and pull the trigger.
