I'm in the guard with over 4000 points (Iraq, Bosnia, OEF, etc). I'd be quite interested in seeing this pass, giving me an option to go traditional and retire in 6 years, collecting at 55 in addition to my current option of doing 9.5 more AGR years and collecting at 42. I would collect less money (saving taxpayers money), but it would be almost like retiring 10 years earlier... which would do wonders for my sanity!...

Why doesn't Congress and the House authorize the same retirement for the reserve and guards as they do for themselves. Our job was certainly more dangerous than theirs. About all I see them do is get entertained by lobbyists....

HI Folks, I'm a member of a E&I unit in Pa. I have over 36 years in the ANG and I'm going to be 56 this year. I've served over 10 times since 2001 going to the AOR. My last AOR was up in Mar 08. I've keep raising my hand up to do a good cause but now it's time to call it. I see if the old folks keep hanging around our new troops wont learn much. We need to hang up those desert boots and make room for the young troop. Please Congress folks PLEASE pass this BIll. THANKS...

The NG&R Early Ret. Act 2007 is an insult to those who answered the call of their country in the hour of need.. And to justify the actions that, the cost of NG&R Act will be about $560 Million that is the reason why it was not retroactive is another insult.. to those who served in the harms way..

Especially, the US Congress authorized Billions of $$ to the Government of Iraq, Afghanistan & Pakistan. Billions of these aid, ended up in the pockets of the corrupt officials of these countries. Yet when the NG&R are called to served, their benefits are being penny pinch by the same US Congress that approved Billions that will be stolen by the corrupt officials of the Iraq/Afgahnistan/Pakistan..

What is wrong with this picture.. The GAO needs to send Battalion of Auditors to Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan and find out what is happening to our Taxpayers Money.

I served 13 years active duty and another 10 years in the reserves. I was recalled for Bosnia and Irag and have a total of over 5000 points. I am 45 years old and must wait 15 more years for the benefits. However my brother in-law served 20 years active duty all stateside, he is 47 years old and gets a nice retirement check each month.
You know its really a sad thing to beg for you money. I have 28 years of Guard and Active service. I'm only 49 years old. I must wait 11 years to get my money. Our leaders better wake up, or they will be sorry. Most of the younger guys I talk to say they will not stay in because of that reason. I just hope my wife and I someday will be able to enjoy my benefits....

I'm a retired reservist(over 4500 pts.),and need my retired money now. I'm diabetic and having a hard time finding a good job at my age. It angers me to know civil service employees(having cushy jobs without worry of dying for their country)can receive their retirement money at 55. It's simply not right....

There is something wrong with a bill that does not recognize all of the sacrifice by men and women of the guard and reserve since 9-11. Since this bill is not retroactive to 2001 it is an insult to all of those who served so bravely and receive nothing in the way of early retirement credit. If were going to get serious about doing the right thing, lets allow retirement at age 55, just like civil service is allowed to do, otherwise lets stop pretending we care about the troops!...

I am opposed to this Bill. Majority of our Guard and Reserve will not retire under the terms and requirements of this Bill.

I think it is time to start listening to our troops. They want the age reduced to 55 without the terms outlined in this Bill. In fact furthermore, they would like to see the age requirement eliminated all-together.

I have been processing military retirements for 6 years in the Air National Guard. I have members retiring with 30 years of satisfactory service that still would not meet the requirement for the reduced age under this bill....

This bill has been introduced several times over serveral decades. The content varying little. The Years and AGE limits contained in this version are unexceptable. 10yrs active duty equals 3600 points. 12 1/2 yrs active duty equals 4500. I served 22yrs and have 2200 points. This includes mobilizing for war twice. There are alot of soldiers in my predicament, and some worse. So, based on this bill i'd still have to wait until i'm 60. Where's the justice in that.

Bottomline, this bill should be fair and it should let soldiers recieve what they earned at 55(period) irregardless of points earned....

About time something like this is done for the guard and reserves. This goes a good way to help but the real help would be simply to allow RC members to begin collecting retirement pay immediately upon retirement. For some who have many points from mobilizations and previous active duty this would really help....
