This bill, though a noble cause will only address one component of the current and prospected nursing shortage. It is not fair to give loan forgiveness to all the other people who chose to go into health care fields such as LVN's, LPN's, respiratory therapy, etc... The bigger issue are the problems with nurse patient ratios, and a shortage of nursing schools and faculty. It takes more to be a nurse than loan forgiveness. Besides, if you use a student loan to help you become a nurse, once educated, it should not be an issue to re-pay your loan so others will benefit from from the same opportunity. I contacted Rep Carolyn McCarthy's (D.
