The Politicians pretty much do as they want, as far as I can see. Since their not in this pool for their SS, what does it really mater to them if they use it for other things they think are needed now. Heven forbid they use some of their money for such things. After all, they vote themselvs more money and get paid for serving one term in office for the rest of their life. BOO!! Maybe sometime, we will get a CHANGE in the staff of thinking, but until then, people just TALK!!! I think there has been some that are honest for the most part, but not enough of them to change things. if more people would react to what is going on, it might stop, but we are too busy to take time for that, and so it goes, statis quo---...

The American citizens have lost faith in our politicians. The robbing of the social security funds is a prime example of why. If Congress really cares about the people, it will protect these funds from other uses except to go back to the people when they retire....

The same old game Everyone in Washington plays. Skim money every place you can for your pet projects with no regard for the people who worked all their life to put money into this account. It is truly absurd that suck a bill even needs to be proposed. This is why everyone hates politicians....

TRUST FUND??? Since when is the the SS a Trust fund? Where is the original text to be found for the passage of the Social Security Act? When was the last time an American citizen directed the SS to give an assessment of their taxes? The US people have been conned out of another right, but they don't know how...most probably don't even care, but the ones that do are usually dealt with very harshly. I wonder why the Japanese outright rejected the idea of having the same system in their country???...because they didn't want to be numbered like cattle....

Social security is for the people of the US who paid into it for their old age! Every person alive who votes should flood their representatives and congressmen with their input. For years now this fund has been raided and it is time for it to stop. I personally feel that members of congress and the representatives should have to live on social security just like everyone else. Why are they so privileged to draw so much more that you and I. Afterall most of them are already wealthy and if they aren't when they go into office they are fixed for life when they retire. Again, I don't believe that they should stay in office until they either drop dead or retire. There should be limits on how long they can serve....

Absolutely -- get the lead out and pass this already. I agree that if our govt officials had to live on OUR SS, they would not have put this on the back burner for so long -- I want to know if MY elected officials voted or vetoed this -- Question: whyu is it so difficult for a citizen to get the voting record of these officials?? Isn't this supposed to be a public record?...

I do not agree to amending this Act, and so allows Social Security or Medicare trust funds to be used to pay for a war (as in in Iraq), nor for hurricanes or other national disasters. As we now know, the White House will simply lie about the need for a war, anyway. It becomes much more difficult to start a war, if taxes would have to be raised to fund it. It is much too easy to start a war with this trust fund to raid for ready cash....

I would be remiss in not admitting that our congressional representatives have to find ways to support thier constituients. However, the S.S. Trust is a SACRED Trust that the citizens have paid into it for thier surival and it should not even be considered for any other use than what it was intented to be.Every Congressman and/or Senator that votes no on this Bill (no matter how good they have been) should be voted out of office during this next election! Of couse, the name of the game is bury it or put it off until after the elections. There should be NO excuses to bringing this to the floor and getting it passed!...
