<description>&lt;p&gt;H.R. 1749 would establish an Ombudsman in the Department of Defense to assist members of the Armed Forces seeking medical care at military medical treatment facilities.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Veterans' Care Advocate Act - Directs the Secretary of Defense to establish within each Department of Defense (DOD) military medical treatment facility an Ombudsman for Recovering Servicemembers to act as a liaison for recovering servicemembers and their families with respect to their evaluation and care under the physical disability evaluation systems.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Defines as &amp;quot;recovering servicemembers&amp;quot; those in a medical hold or holdover status due to an injury, illness, or disease incurred or aggravated while on active duty.&lt;/p&gt;
