About fifty years ago, the Federal Government made decisions that properly directed some of these erodible lands out of production and put them in forests. Sadly, many land-owners made the bad decision to convert good farm lands as well, reducing the land-values to their default (low) range and thus depopulating the county. This National Heritage Corridor will help land-owners find higher-value uses for the remaining good farm land.
