July 26, 2011, 9:58am (report abuse)While I am in favor of a strong military, Congress has no sense when it comes to spending money. The military itself has told Congress that there are several items that they do not need such as the C-17 that the Air Force said they didn't want yet Congress passed appropriations for it any way just to so someone could get re-elected.

September 23, 2011, 6:55pm (report abuse)I agree with Steve Welch. I am in favor of a strong Military but we need to send a message to Congress that they need to hold the line and not keep increasing appropriations (just to get elected). Until congress learns to tighten their own budget, do the work they are supposed to do and quite taken a 'recess' every other week (especially after just coming back from a month of recess) we should keep them in session and ask them to forfeit their pay and benefits until they learn to work like the rest of us Americans.
