Some arguments in support: 1. Brower was the leading conservationist of the 20th Century and m;ore associated with the Sierra than anyone except John Muir--naming an unnamed bump on a ridge for him does not do justice to his memory.. 2. Brower made the first winter ascent of North pal and the first ascent of its Northwest Ridge. 4. There is no South Palisade--it was renamed Split Mountain. 5. North Pal is not the northernmost peak in the Palisade group anyway. 6. keeping the Palisade part of the name preserves tradition. 7. north Pal's famous glacier is shrinking due to global warming, something Brower was among the first to warn about. 8. This legislation has the strong support of many famous Sierra Climbers including Steve roper, allen Steck and Yvon chiounardt. for more information contact me at jodg@comcast.net
