October 17, 2007, 6:17pm (report abuse)100% DAV's should receive an immediate 25% increase, and should receive 10% COLA each December 1st every year.
thank you

October 29, 2007, 10:59am (report abuse)Veterans entitled to 100% disability should have an increase of 25% starting 1 December 2007. If you don't agree, look at the PORK that Congress adds to their bills and slides by the taxpayers. Also, look at the retirement $$$$$$$$ and benefits that former Congressmen/women receive when they leave their elected positions. Shame on all of them!
big joke

November 24, 2007, 6:01pm (report abuse)Our veterans with 100% disability should get more due to their extreme hardships. A 25% increase on 1 December 2007 would be much more appropriate. They have suffered far too much to get anything less. A 10% COLA should also be given them every year also.
This is the least that we can do for these brave men.

November 25, 2007, 2:24pm (report abuse)Not going to happen. The President, congress, and all the other political phoneys only care about thier own living conditions. They're doing well by not doing much and that's what they care about. I don't see anything changing unless they choose to care and that isn't going to happen. "Do the best you can with what you have and where you are at." That's all a veteran can do... and remember to never count on anybody else (government)doing the right thing ever again.

November 28, 2007, 9:17pm (report abuse)Welll GEweezz if you take care of those disabled veterans, then how will our government pay Halaburtion or Black Water their well deserved millions. Those non productive members of society (disabled Vets)should be interned in special camps so that our government can take care of them in the most efficient manner possable.

December 9, 2007, 2:48pm (report abuse)This is not for all vets just new
Vets so the older ones only get a 2.3% not a great deal after all

December 11, 2007, 12:09am (report abuse)Our government seems to be at new level when it comes to taking care of us vets. One might get the idea that the government was hoping that no body would return or if they had become disabled that maybe our government could start another war just for us disable vets. which would solve the mass of stupidly in our government. I once read that the people should not fear the government, but that the government should fear its people! I'm a 100% but I still have common sense maybe someone in Washington would be interted in how it works me.

December 15, 2007, 7:05am (report abuse)I TOO AM 100% AND AN INCREASE WOULD HELP. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE A DUTY TO HELP AND HONOR THE VETERANS OF ALL WARS AND CONFLICTS. I CAN'T SEE PUTTING ALL THE TBI AND AMPTS OUT ON THE STREETS AND TELL THEM TO GO TO WORK FOR 7.00 DOLLARS AN HOUR.
a 100% vet
December 21, 2007, 10:30pm (report abuse)I just searched everywhere and at no point anywhere is thier anything on record that states a 25% increase... show me where the president signed a law in to effect veterans with 100% disablity is going to get a 25% increase printed in the federal register or GPO thats where its writen if its true all this other hogwash is just that hogwash.......

December 25, 2007, 11:33am (report abuse)if we stand together & let our votes go to those congress men/women who vote yes, things might change. On the benifits they receive it's a discrace to the fighting men that make it possible for these un thankful congress people.IF YOU DONT SUPPORT THEM,GET IN FRONT OF THEM.8

December 27, 2007, 5:32pm (report abuse)Any fool who goes shopping can see the cost of products rising more than 2-3%. Over the past 15 years, our COLA has fallen well behind the COLA adjustment. Should be 12% increase.

January 8, 2008, 9:50am (report abuse)Wow! We disabled Vets got a "BIG" cola raise! Aren't you all excited? Big deal, huh? Talk about an insult! I think it's about time that the disabled vets got a realistic increase. The Govt. needs to stop telling us we're getting a loaf of bread, and all that we get is a CRUMBY deal!
Bob
January 21, 2008, 8:32pm (report abuse)The goverment does not care about its military people much when their in. They care less when the veterans are gone. Even the USPS can sh*t on its veteran employees and gets away with it

January 24, 2008, 12:13am (report abuse)I'm 100% disabled and understand the increasing cost of gasoline, utilities, food, clothes and most other essentials are far greater than any pay raise I have received. I also have two small children at home that I will have to support for the next 16 years and I,m sure there are lot of other vets in the same boat. I suggest that we vote all incumbent senators and congressmen out and replace with fresh new people that are not in some rich CEO back pocket. Someone who really knows what it's like to be poor or needy. Most of these guys grew up with a silver spoon in their mouth and can't even imagine what it's like trying to make it from pay day to pay day.

January 28, 2008, 9:50pm (report abuse)I am a 100% service connected disabled vet. Just a year ago my wife and I were doing okay. We were paying the bills. A 2.3% cola just doesn't get it anymore. What happen to CORE inflation? Doesn't that count? I am now operating in a deficit. We haven't gotten a real raise in 62 years. We need help!
Tom
January 31, 2008, 3:45pm (report abuse)Who started this crap about a 25% pay increase for 100% disabled vets? I heard this from my DAV Officer yesterday - where he heard it from is beyond me.
John
February 28, 2008, 9:14am (report abuse)All of us vets who are disabled, and with the present cola, which hardly reflects the real cost of living expenses, are slowly watching our wallets empty. In reality, inflation is ten % this year, not 2.3% In another two years, inflation will be 20%, so an increase of this hypothetical 25% will just barely keep us abreast. This administration spends money like a drunken sailor on a weekend pass, while the vets who fought these wars wallow away. The sad fact, the country is broke and if it wasn't for china investing almost a trillion bucks(made from wally world) in federal treasury notes and bonds, wall street would have hit the dirt a year ago. We are in a straight jacket of finanical circumstances, the likes of which, are just begining to become visible. Don't expect much from Washington, because its part of the problem! The way I see it, all of us disabled vets are going to be on our hands and knees in a single column so we can all kiss each other's asses goodby! John22

April 25, 2008, 1:00am (report abuse)if i move to another country could i get my government to work for me like giving money to others? the 25% proposed increase is our governments lost promise to vets. it is what it is a," proposal." all of our reps. like the v.f.w. and american legion and others are sell outs who only want the money for the job thay don't do. if i could go back and do it all over, the american government would have to draft me and then i would not even fight. for what? so my disabilities can play politics for others to make jobs makeing more then me on 100% disability....

May 18, 2008, 1:02pm (report abuse)The paultry 2.3% for VA Benefits was a joke this year. What I want to know is why NOT ONE presidential candidate is addressing this issue?
VA
June 6, 2008, 8:57am (report abuse)Speaking of VA's, they don't treat their employee veteran's well either, especially if you are service connected. They look at you as a milingerer...........

June 17, 2008, 4:41pm (report abuse)It all boils down to the HAVE MORES than the haves and haves not.
Like President Bush once called him and the rest of the Politicians in Washington, the HAVE MORES. We need some hanging gallows outside of the White Hose so the PEOPLE can hang the S.O.B's when the steal the PEOPLES MONEY. ALSO THE CORPORATIONS OF THIS COUNTRY. 1965 Viet Nam Marine.
Pete
June 28, 2008, 10:58am (report abuse)I'm 100% too. My take on this is that a congressional panel doing a study on benefits for T&P and 100%ers in 2007 made the recommendation for a minimum of a 25% across the board increase in comp. pay, to start with. Seems I read that on an online GOV.site. If we were getting an increase to keep us up to snuff with 2001 spending power it would be more than that. I say if they can't take care of the disabled Vets they have now then they shouldn't keep creating more. No new taxes for the Wars but we are into debt to China for close to a trillion bucks and near that between Japan and Saudi Arabia, so what they're giving us now must be deficit spending? "W" must have been absent the day they taught basic math.

July 27, 2008, 12:37pm (report abuse)i do not think that d.a.v that has lost arms legs shoulD be locked to 100% i fell they should get more. like 150% or more ?

August 15, 2008, 8:47pm (report abuse)As a 100% disabled vet .. a 25% raise would be great ..but it will never happen. All this talk of a 25% raise in because it coming up on election time again. We as veterans are nw what we have always been .. just a pawn for the politicians to use to get elected. The last time we received the raises we deserved was in the 70.

September 7, 2008, 8:38pm (report abuse)First of all the cost of living percent is false with milk at $4.00 and gas etc there is no way the cost of living is 2.3% if this country can spend a Billion a month all Vets should beable to get a raise has things changed?? As we all know it won't happen unless you add all the future raises for the next 25 years.Do a search for Quality of life benefit for veterans and you will find a few more stories on this report.
