September 22, 2008, 1:16pm (report abuse)No one that's ever had to hire lazy, half-literate white teenagers to perform even the most menial tasks at an inflated minimum wage could take Tancredo's immigration crusade seriously. Beyond any absurdity of content (I won't dignify discussion of the bill with debate) it sends a subtler message of government reliance: that the solutions to issues of judgment lies in the rhetoric of government resolutions, not in the actions of reasonable people of the world in which we live.

September 22, 2008, 4:15pm (report abuse)Apparently you haven't been around. Do some reading on the mess in Sweden over the Muslims moving in and taking over several towns. Maybe do some reading on what the Muslims have done in the Minneapolis, MN area; from the airport to Target Stores to a community collage. Quite simply its the way of Islam or nothing. This Bill will set things right. If immigrants want in, they agree to follow OUR rules , not some archaic and evil Sharia rule. Islam is evil, guided by sick teachings that support Sharia law. Hey, in this case the rule is part of the religion. Maybe you want Sharia law in your community, but not me.

Oh and that "way of Islam". What does that differ from this "natural selection" and the alike things proposed and forcefed by the Christians?

September 23, 2008, 12:05pm (report abuse)This bill is right on the money and requires acknowledgement from immigrants that US laws, and Islamic laws, will hold sway in our country.
Sharia is anethma to democracy and values the West holds dear: freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, equal rights, etc.. Since Sharia and Islam advocate the establihment of the Caliphate (a muslim empire of Islam), persons who advocate Sharia are, in fact, guilty of sedition.

September 24, 2008, 9:19am (report abuse)True, we have the right to actively change our government, which we have done (and continue to do) through ammendments and judicial interpretation.
The problem is that Islamic Law is diametrically opposed to democracy and all of the rights provided by the Constitution and all the principles our country was founded upon; as such, it is (or should be) abhorent to America (and any free people) to even consider accomodating such a system. Slavery, murder, polygamy and pedophilia (to name a few) are not accptable activities in any modern society, especially a democracy. Complete rejection of Islamo-fascism is the only acceptable course for America.
By the way, Islamic Law is open for neither interpretation nor change: it is infallable...and applies equally to everyone: abide by it or die.

I wonder if there is any way we could add just a little bit more." And here comes Tancreepo to fill the job. Before, it was Miami that was causing all the problems according to him. The Founding Fathers intention and assumption that the US is a Christian country is well established by any honest inquiry. The Supreme Court has upheld that three times as well. We still need any add'l safeguards, though, to protect us from Muslim radicals.

September 25, 2008, 2:15am (report abuse)Its a barbaric system of laws which was set up in the 6th century AD and is inhuman to put it in short.
An example of a real case in India shows how ridiculous and inhuman this law can get.
A woman who was raped was told that she needed to divorce her husband, sleep with another man before she could marry her husband again. It totally defies common sense and logic.
We need to reject these 6th century barbaric laws which has no place in this country and in our constitution.
There is also a huge loophole in this bill. There is nothing which stops the citizens of this country , who are not immigrants, but born in the US (mainly children of immigrants and converts)to try and establish Shariah law. We need to look at that angle too.

If Sharia ever came to America, there'd be another civil war. Guess who would win? The majority, which are non-Muslims. No doubt. Mohammad won't be able to reach his sword in time.

Some on the court now want to make judgements using foreign laws as a precedent. Please shrug off your political bias and see what is happening to the sovereignty of other counrties. The UK for one!!
