Currently the law states that if you have in your posession 5 grams of crack you will receieve 5 years in prison. If you have in your possesion 500 GRAMS OF COCAINE its 5 years in prision. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Crack cocaine and powder cocaine are the SAME DRUGS!!! Just two different forms. The current law was put into place to make sure Big King Pins received a large amount of time but currently this law only affects 10% of major drug distrubtors and the rest are small time dealers and drug addicts. With documented proof that 80% of the offenders are black. Its time to set things right. The current law is completely unjust and unfair. This law should have never been in place, its completly unconstitutional. Lets try and make this right.

The current law punishes people for being poor and addicted to crack because they can't afford anything else. But if middle class your more likely to use powder cocaine and you get less time and more options for rehabillation. So society makes the addicts then punishes them?

I say legalize all of it. Our current enforcement cost billions and creates a black-market that supports the Taliban in Afghanistan, paramilitaries in South America, and criminal gangs in the US. Why? So we can prevent people from hurting themselves.

THIS LAW IS LUDACRIS,YOU CAN KILL A FAMILY AND RETURN HOME IN 5 TEARS BUT IF YOU SELL A GRAM OF CRACK YOU GET 10 YEARS.WHERES ARE JUSTICE SYSTEM??

I'm 15 years old and watch the local news where people get less time for murder,rape and violent crimes-Please take the blinders off and pass this bill..for my older brothers sake

the law should not be as cut and dried as it is.
Give the guyS from the hood a break
the odds were against him from the get - go.
--lets give them a chance to put themselves together. .
I know for a fact there are a lot of them in dentention centers all over the country that have learned their lesson.They're looking at 10- 20 years., they just got caught up in some bad circumstances and were doomed the day they were born - it's time to understand them and also have some compassion
DON'T FORGET IT'S THEIR BROTHERS AND SISTERS THAT ARE GETTING BLOWN UP IN IRAK AND AFGANASTAN., NOT THE KIDS WITH A SILVER SPOON IN THEIR MOUTHS.

This law is ridiculous and should have never been put back into effect in the 80's. It was done away with for a reason. Rapist, thieves, and murderers are getting less time than these people found to have small amounts of drugs. Lives are being ruined over what? The time needs to fit the crime. Why have minimums? Please pass this law soon.

These days you get more time for murder, my husband was killed years ago the person responsible only got 6 months. I have no faith in the system, all sentences should be the same for drugs, murder, etc. When is the system going to shape up?
