H.R. 2627 would establish the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in the State of New Jersey as the successor to the Edison National Historic Site.
Detailed Summary
<b>(This measure has not been amended since it was introduced. The summary has been expanded because action occurred on the measure.)</b>
Act Commemorating the LITE, or Lifetime Innovations of Thomas Edison - Establishes the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in New Jersey as a unit of the National Park System.
Specifies that the Historical Park shall be comprised of all property: (1) owned by the United States in the Edison National Historic Site as well as all property authorized to be acquired by the Secretary of the Interior for inclusion in the Historic Site before the enactment of this Act; and (2) authorized to be acquired for inclusion in the Historical Park by this Act or other law enacted after the enactment of this Act. Allows the Secretary to acquire: (1) land or interests in land within the Historical Park's boundaries only from willing sellers; and (2) personal property associated with, and appropriated for, interpretation of the Historical Park.
Permits the Secretary to consult and enter into cooperative agreements with interested entities and individuals to provide for the preservation, development, interpretation, and use of the Historical Park.
Repeals the Act regarding the establishment and administration of the Edison National Historic Site.
Authorizes appropriations.
