This bill is a step in the right direction. Many non immigrant visas including students are allowed to bring their spouses to the US but permanent residents are not, quite unbalanced.

As a UK gay man living in the US with a US citizen, I obviously support this legislation. The UK, Canada, and Australia are but a few of the countries with provision for partner migration sponsorship, WHY DOESN'T THE US HAVE PARTNER MIGRATION? The US are losing exceptionally talented people because the US citizen in a relationship is forced into leaving the US to be with their non-US partner. It is time for the US to get with the times!

Now, here's the ironic part, my partner and I have been together for 7 years, 5 of which i have been living in the US on a student visa. My brother met a girl from the US, two year later he is in the US and is planning a wedding - he is able to stay in the country even though they have only lived together for short periods of time (month at a time). After he gets married, he can apply for residency. Can anyone explain how this is fair?
