February 5, 2008, 8:01pm (report abuse)This legislation will increase access to essential health care services and increase state flexibility whil ehelping to control Medicaid spending
The '97 Balanced Budget Act encouraged states to move Medicaid recipients into managed care but failed to recognize Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) as participants in these plans.
The Medicaid Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants Access Act would reomve these barriers to practice and Medicaid fee coverage would be expanded to these 2 groups.
MANY studies show Advanced Practice Nurses provide cost-effective, and high-quality care. Then finally, APRN services will be fully utilized, increasing access to health care and decrease preventable acute care admissions and emergency department visits
