Relatives of Filipino Veterans granting them to migrate to take care of their parents? My main concern is that more immigrants without any jobs and then who will take care of these migrants? From their parent's pension?

Virtually all of the Filipinos I know who are in the U.S. and are able to work have jobs, regardless of how menial or high-paying these jobs might be. I do not see how or why the veterans' children would be any different.

My father and father in law are WWII veterans and are in their eighties. The petitions they made are still awaiting visa approval due to the numerical limitations on immigrant visas. We are hoping that this bill gets approved and give fair consideration to those who served honorably and fought for America.

Im son of a Naturalized Veteran and were hoping also that this bill be passed ASAP and be granted to us, even my father stay here in the Philippines. He was sick and prepared to stay in his family here in the Philippines. Benefits were also stop from the US government.

It is also unfair that the bill will only benefit for the phil veteran naturalized WHO ARE STAYING IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. If this HUMANEs are really trying to help the soldiers who fought for the people and freedom of the people of America, then they must be aware that this smelling earth grand father of sons and duathers of veterans.... well try to wake up your humane... Most of the filipino veteran are living in the Philippines without any benefits they have UNTIL NOW. They went back hare in the philippines please help them too.

We know that is one worthy cause that should be notice by any President or Senators here in the US . Why is the unjust treatment of Fil Am veterans continued to be ignored by the US govt . We hope that Fil Am voters and even Asian voters will unite for this Bill to be passed.

when the the reunification bill be approved? most veterans are now in their last years. What is the US government waiting for? The threat of Alzheimer's disease might happen any time soon, don't wait for these men who fought for freedom forget who their children are, where are your hearts, AMERICANS?

I have a grandfather who fought togeher with the americans during he world war II. Im wishing and hoping for this bill o be passed. FOr the simple reason that, we'd be able to take care of our grandfathers who is residing in the states without their family. Filipinos are known for that, we take care of our parents and grandparents and live in one house. If the bill passed. It would be a great help for the veterans. I think Americans should consider the loyalty given to them by the veterans and by passing this bill, would be a relief to them. Thank you.

I wonder why the american legislators are fun of giving piece-meal bill to fil-am vets. Now ,they have been allowed that if these fil-am vets dies in america will be burried at the US military cemeteries with burrial benefits and health care, meaning to say they are recognized as US veterans. Why dont they grant them all the benefits at a time, the pension and family reunification so that these old folks would enjoy their life even at their golden years, this could be a serious deception to them.

As of december 15, 2007... Filipino Veterans Equity Bill will be finally tacled by February 2008 due to budgetary issue but the Family Reunification as newly amended by Sen Daniel Akaka last December 15 with 87-9 approval in the Senate is being prepared to be passed before Christmas 2007 with strong backings from Sen Larry Craig (leading opponent of Akaka bill) and Sen Specter and a lot more. let us all pray and it shall be given unto us.

Mr. Cesar Cruz, Me and my family are also being petitioned by a U.S. veteran (14 yrs going 15). I always visit the site of Sen. Akaka but nowhere do I find the information about the Bill to be discussed finally by February 2008. If it's true then it's a piece of good news for us.-jun_anading@yahoo.com

hello Mr Jun Anading, I am here in the US and just saw on TV of December 16, 2007 That live via Balitang America in California tlevised about the news re filipino veterans pending equity bill but a high hope being prayed upon by every veteran living here in the US and the Philippines upon hearing and seeing this news about the backings of leading senators (Craig and Specter) to willfully push to have the reunification be passed before Christmas of 2007. So let us all pray and GOD is listening to us as nothing is impossible with GOD. May HE bless us all.

If the Family reunification bill will be approve, I dont know if all of their children could come to US, plane tickets and visa fees are expensive, some of those fil-am vets residing in the Philippines receiving 75% of SSI per month, their lives are not augmented and still living in poverty line. Please inform the US legislators, especially Sen. Craig and the Republicans ,if the pension of 300 dollors to the filvets residing in the Phillipines will be approve ,it will not totally augment their lives, and if possible, fil-am vets children will be exempted in the increasing visa fees.

It would be very beneficial for all US veterans if the family reunification be passed on February 2008, since it's almost 15 years that we're waiting for our visa to be processed. My father will be turning 86 years old on October. So please, give it importance... Thanks

Year 2007 was a distressing one for us because of the disapproval of the new immigration bill until such time that my family decided to settle in U.K. But upon comparison with life in U.S., I am still opting to settle in U.S. because of the high standard of living here. The Family Reunification bill should be passed first. It does not require monetary appropriation and gives vets' children not only the chance to join and take care of their aging parents but also find jobs and earn.

fil-am vets residing in US will be happy if the alternative bill passed by sen. burr and sen. craig (Republican oppositons) will be enacted into law together with the family reunification bill ASAP. As of now March 3, 2008 we have not seen the approval of the FRB awaited by many Filipino vets children. We were petitioned by my father in June 1993 and until now we our priority visa are not yet current. Hope the US Congress will act with dispatch on this FRB because many vetarans are already in their late 80's. GOD BLESS

US Congres approval of this Family Reunification Bill will fortify the US image for being the "VANGUARD OF DEMOCRACY"! WWII was said to be in defense of Democracy except in terms of treating equally all soldiers who shed blood side by side with the US Armed Forces in the Far East. Thus, enacting the bill into law will be a vindication for the US.

Hmong veterans of Vietnam were able to bring their family right away after being naturalized US citizen. In fairness to FilAm veterans the US Senate & Congress should reclassify children of FilAm veterans as non-quota immigrants.

To honor & recognize thier bravery & loyalty they have shown during WWII it is hightime that these filam vets grants thier long overdue request by passing the Filvets reunification act into law. They deserves to be loved and cared by thier children before they will join with thier comrades who has been RIP for long years back. It is so sad to learned that these ageing filamvets still continue fighting in the battlefield armed with canes and not cannons. When will these ageing filvets ends thier journey? There numbers are diminishing day by day. Is there a victory ahead of them? Unless the US government would act to rescue them now, they will vanish and die with regrets...

I hope the FRB gets approved...i'm a grand child of a war veteran, i'm already over 21 and our petition has not moved for the longest time. (our priority date's dated at september 1992 i think.) anyhow, i am employed in the Philippines and living a fairly stable life. I want this bill approved not for personal gain but for my Lolo, who at 78 years of age is still trying to work and living alone in a trailer. being a daughter, i know how distraught my father must feel because he cannot take care of my lolo... :( i hope this gets approved soon so that my Lolo can enjoy his remaining years...it pains me to think of other families in the same situation, being away from a loved one is truly hard...hope this, along with the equity bill gets approved soon...

With the shortage of workers now in the U.S.A. owing to massive deportation of long- stayed illegal aliens of any nationalities; undoubtedly, the sons and daughters can fill the void in a legal means for they were already petitioned, it's just a matter of waiting. Thus, the RFB should hopefully be taken into consideration; not-to-mentioned, they can take care without worry their aging veteran fathers in the U.S.A.
