Bernice/Spouse of deceased Veteran

September 15, 2009, 11:30pm (report abuse)

To be fair, if this bill does not pass, is to introduce a bill to lower income of other deceased U.S Government workers spouses to 43 percent too. The spouse of a Veteran receives DIC income from the VA. Our income is also at a Federal level. I view this as discrimination against Veterans.

Is there some reason Bernice is not correct? Should this bill not pass I feel that all Federal employee spouses should take a cut to the rate of the surviving spouse of a Military/veteran. Why should we be entitled to so much less? What is fair is fair. If the surviving spouse of any Federal employee receives 55% why does the surviving spouse of a military/Veteran receive between 42% and 43%? After all they were Federal workers also.K8GW2

The Senate bill also has language reguarding remarriage at 55 rather than 57.

I guess I have been busier then usual. I don't know who the Corky is above, but I certainly did not write that nonsense. And yes I was very busy. I do work part time. As I stated before with HR 2243, the GAO did finish a report as to how much the spouses do really get from the VA. It seems we get between 35 and 55% of the spouses pay. I don't know how they arived at this figure. However, it may be why we have not seen action on either bill. At least they are checking into things.
