The country itself is struggling to get somewhere and quite not ready for us young people in school and trying to make life better. I for one fact have experience so much, that at night i have nightmares about the war.please please give us the opportunity to better ourselves and our children. Liberia is America's next kin.

The need for American lawmakers to pass this bill cannot be overemphasized. Many families, both in Liberia and the U.S., depend on it. Either way, the implications are incaculable. We pray that the good government of the United States will pass this bill both as a humane gesture and a just treatment of the many Liberians in this country who have been so affected by unfortunate circumstances not of their personal making. The U.S. government has done well; but need to finish the job. We pray Almighty God to help them complete the task.

This bill will certainly help all the Liberians to step in the foot-steps of those who have been useful citizens; and they in turn could be productive in the development of Liberia, which has been thrown back into the stone age by this civil war.

The trashing out of this bill and any other bill in favor of Liberians to remain in the US permanently is not only inhumane but also unfair. The relationship of Liberia and America dates far back as in 1822 when America through the American Colonization Society (ACS) purchased the piece of Land known as ‘Liberia’ for the resettlement of ‘Freed Slaves’ back to Africa. Furthermore, the ACS set the system of government that Liberia has today and the first through the seventh president were all American Citizens.
Throughout history, America has benefited from Liberia both through kind and resources and Liberia has never benefited from one kind gesture from America.
So, I think it is now time for America to at least pay back to Liberians by granting this appeal of permanent residency.

Although slaves were taken from all parts of Africa, Liberia is the only country in Africa where free slaves were taken to. Those people left blood relatives here. Liberians came to the United States when they had a civil war, because they had a blood connection to the United States. The spirits of those who were forced to leave the United States that time will rejoice to see their great, great, great children being received by the United States by granting their approval to this bill. Please not break this "reunion," although we can not easily locate our relatives that were left her. We know that their great, great, great children are still here and we are glad to be in the United States with them.

America owes Liberia and Liberians a deep debt of gratitude. It is about time that the USA stop playing deceit and grant liberians on TPS Permanent Residence Status! Liberia have always stood and supported America in all endeavors. The US Congress and President Bush should act fast before September 30th!

It would be great if this bill is passed. As a Liberian, I'll like to add my voice to all others to beseech American Lawmakers to pass this S. 656 Bill that would provide for the adjustment of status of certain nationals of Liberia to that of lawful permanent residence.

Please support the bill for Liberians. It would be a tragedy if it is not granted. Liberians who came to the United States seeking refuge have made tremendous progress in developing themselves, contributing to this society and contributing to the advancement of the well being of relatives and friends in Liberia. Should they be forced to go back, this will mean restarting a life less productive, their inability to empower their relatives and friends who depend on them, and the separation of parents from children.

Many Liberian came to the United States legally to protect and safe themselve from the brutal civil war that was supported by America. The war lasted 14 years and today America is asking us to return home to a place that is not suitable to raise our children and live our lives. No hospitals, schools and roads.We are asked by America to returned. It took America one day to stop the war and get the Dictator they made out of our back. After 14 yeaers of been in America, my question is why? Is there a justifiable reason?

Liberians came to America legally and it is sad the Civil Crisis lasted as long. Her Excellency Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has a great agenda for the country. All Liberians would willingly go home under better conditions. Sadly, the present fragile state of Liberia warrants reprieve for the Liberians situated in America, especially those who lived her 10-15+ yrs.It will be detrimental to the kids, mothers, fathers, and extended kinsmen to have their lives uprooted in an instant. We therefore pray upon Congress and President George Bush to make the right choice and do all necessary to secure passage of this legislation and similar pertaining to Liberia. America is a land of opportunity and it holds the mantle and torch of freedom. Were you to send off Liberians, it would breed instability on the African continent. This would send a message to other countries harboring refugees that those refugees should be sent home.

It is very importnat that the US government sponsors this bill not only because of our historical ties to this land but also because we make solid contributions to this land. Sending Liberians home at this critical point would be tantamount to deliberately destroying thousands of innocent lives.

Liberians deserve to be given special consideration in regard to permanent residency. There are historical and longstanding relationships which should be considered. Besides, Liberia continues to stand beside the US in promoting American interests in Africa. Particular reference is made regarding AFRICOM. Most African countries reject it as a policy that interferes in the sovereignty of the continent. However, Liberia and its President supports and wants to host AFRICOM on its soil. And to J, the bill for Liberia has been on the US legislative docket for much longer than the last amnesty bill. It was reintroduced before the House and Senate for a number of years without passage. It is about time now that it is passed or that President Bush takes a stand and grant selective amnesty to the Liberians with TPS.
