I think this is a good idea for those of us that have had to live through the term 'stop-loss'. My husband was suppose to be out of the army November of 2006 and instead was stop-lossed and sent to Iraq for 12 months and then after being over there for 3 months was extended for another 3. Making it 15 months that he spent away from his family and his newborn baby girl. A lot of lives have been put on hold for the service of our country and I believe that the men and women that had to go through this ordeal should be reimbursed for the sacrifices they have made.

I am currently stoplossed. I should have been out of the army on Nov 3rd 2007. I think this is a fair bill. My life has been changed by stoploss tremendously. This is my second tour in Iraq, and I think that stoploss pay is just as good an idea as reenlistment bonuses. Since in a sense that is what stoploss is, an involuntary reenlistment.

Stop-lossed personal should be conpensated. Contractors(safer, less labor intensive) doing the same job over-seas are making 5 times more then a soldier. There is no incentive for a soldier to stay in.

well i support this deal i was supposed to ETS Sept 2007 and now currently on deployment for 15 months i look at it like this if the government can buy new F 150 crew cab trucks for the "higher ups" to ride around in over here then they can afford to pay us for invol. extension we did our time on the contract so why should we have to stay because they cant make retention and or recruitment goals ?

I Support this Bill. Too many families are effected by stop loss. This will help them out financially at least.

Me aswell, served honorably 1 tour of 12 months in Iraq and then my contract was involuntarily extended with no incentives so I could go for another 15 months. Very arduous for Combat Arms soldiers who's standard of living and high operation tempo make the tours very straining.

It is a reflection of the army's human resources debacle that people have to be stop-lossed in the first place. Units should know which personnel are leaving when and take measures to fill those slots with incoming soldiers that are getting those fat bonuses. My unit currently has two CPLs that are being stop-lossed because they missed the cut-off date by 3, and 7 days, respectively. We have received an influx of replacements for them in the past several months, but because of the army's shortage of both competent personnel and leadership these guys had to give up careers they had been setting up for the past year. Not only did they get shafted out of their careers and significantly higher salaries, but now they are leading newbies that (because of their bonuses) are making more money this year than they will.

My ETS is supposed to be NOV 15, 2008 Now due to a deployment coming up in JAN 2008 I am getting stoplossed for an expectied 15 months, the extra money is a great idea. but nothing beats going home (For Good).

As a stop lossed soldier I can say that it is very frustrating. Everyone says "you volunteered" and I did six years ago. I have been deployed three times and now I would like to come home. I don't care about the money, I just hope this bill and others like it help end stop loss as a retention policy. Just because I'm enlisted shouldn't mean that I am an indentured servant. Officers can resign their commissions and leave honorably. It's a pity enlisted men and women don't have that option.

Can someone clear this up for me I was suppost to ETS may 29, 2007 (this was the end of my four year active duty time), and I got stop lossed and did not ETS until may 10, 2008 but I was told that this bill would not apply to me because I still had 3yrs of Inactive duty on my contract. (4 years active, 4 years IRR). I was told that this bill is only for people who had no time left on their contract, which includes your IRR time. Anyone that can verifty this for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I am in favor of this bill, not only am I on stop loss but I am not able to help my wife with our five children and it is taking money out of our home with me being deployed. I signed up for a try one which is a one year contract to see if I still wanted to be in the military after being out of our service for 6 years. I decided I could make more money being at home and before I could get out of my one year contract, I was notified that I was placed on stop loss. I served my term in Iraq, and had 3 family members pass away during my absence. Not only did I serve with honor, I completed the mission I was tasked with selfless service and should be compensated for the money and time lost with my wife and children. We are still living from paycheck to paycheck due to the cost of living and the price of fuel my wife has to spend to take the kids to school and herself to work to compensate for my income. I hope this is testament enough to take care of the soldiers. We fight for You.

I am on stop loss. My ETS was September 2008 and now, I am coming home March 2009! KBR contractors make 3x as much as soldiers do while doing the same job!

I am in favor with this bill, because they stop loss my husband 1 day before his ETS day and 2 month later he sent to Kuwait. I truly hope that this stop loss would come to and end and soldiers and their family won't have to go through this dreadful process.

I just finished up my second tour in Iraq after being stop-lossed for 16 months. This was definitely a back door draft and will continue to go on. Stop-lossed Soldiers deserve a bonus for being stop-lossed just as much as a re-enlistee does too.
