S. 2142 would amend title 38, United States Code, to require the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to reimburse veterans receiving emergency treatment in non-Department of Veterans Affairs facilities for such treatment until such veterans are transferred to Department facilities.

In an emergency situation as determined by an EMT or MD, I think every enrolled veteran should be transported to the nearest emergency room and paid for by the VA. Other insurance coverage could be handled through coordination of benefits.

i recently had a medication error caused by the lebanon, va which later sent me into seizures. i went to the nearest hosp. the va refused to pay because i did not ask for va aproval. hard to do late on a weekend night in seisures.i am a 100% vet. aint that america!83

I am under Veterans care(priority 4) with no service connected disabilities. I am over age 65, with Medicare Part A which pays only hospital charges. VA will not tell me if they will pay doctors's charges. I hope this bill changes that.
