Absolutely! The prisons are currently making a large profit off of inmate telephone calls. My husband is incarcerated in LA, and he pays a couple hundred dollars a month for just 300 minutes. If he calls collect then it costs me $0.79 per minute averaging $240 per month. This is rediculous. Everyone always complains about how much of our tax dollars are going to support prisons, but in reality prisoners make about $0.12 per hour, and have to fully support themselves, from purchasing things like toilet paper, soap, toothbrush, hairbrush, clothing, etc. What is worse, it that the prisons charge an inflated price for all these items. It seems as though the prisons must be bringing in some record profit, or their staff must be paid extremely well. Whatever the case, something needs to change. Thanks
