Wow! are people crazy how could you vote against this act. Primates should never be pets they need the interaction and stimulation of other primates in order to be happy! These animals should never be bought and sold as pets and that is why I am voting for this act!

In addition to the threat of physical injury these animals also often carry a number of zoonotic diseases such as Herpes B, monkeypox, salmonella, shigella, Simian Immunodeficiency Virus (SIV), tuberculosis, yellow fever, and the Marburg virus and these disease can be transmitted from animals to humans. We do not need these animals moving all over the country.

It is cruel to keep these animals as pets! laws need to be in place to prevent people from owning these animals as pets. When this law is in place people will not be able to traffic these animals around the country. They sell these endagered animals over the internet!

A primate; here is another one of Gods gifts that is being exploited! People go the extreme of either breeding them for entertainment or putting them in dippers so they do not soil your posh home. They had a home why would you wish to take them out of it? These animals love to be together, a human can not give them the same things as their own kind can. The pet trade uses all manner of cruelty to get these creatures to perform. Unscrupulous breeders only want the money they do not care what happens to the animal. To me it is a form of slavery God gave them freedom how have we the right to take it away from these Primates!!

A primate is not a domesticated animal they bite, they pee, they tear your house apart, they terrorize your house guest and your neighbours. People get these animals and use them as surrogate children and then sadly realise too late the these animals do not make good pets.

This bill needs to include a provison for the properly trained service monkeys from Helping Hands monkey helpers for the disabled. www.monkeyhelpers.org
They have placed monkeys for 25 years with people with disablities.

This bill does not stop sales within a state, only travel between states. The only thing this bill accomplishes is making it more difficult for responsible owners to care for their companions. If a life change requires the family to move to another state, the bonded monkey must stay behind. Primate PETS DO NOT CARRY DISEASES. They are tested just as other animals. Inquire with the CDC how many recorded disease transmission there have been between Pet primates and humans. the answer is NONE. Monkeys can bite, yes of course. ANY ANIMAL with teeth can bite. Dogs bite OVER 3 MILLION people a year, yet there are no laws trying to stop their travel between states. This bill is being pushed by groups who believe no animal should be a pet. There is much fear mongering without facts to back their claims. This bill is a WASTE of tax payer money, and a violation of our rights as Americans to own the animals of our choosing.

This bill is a waste of my money. I don't own a monkey and probably never would, but I don't try to stop others who are dedicated to the animal from owning them and moving with them if they need to. There are abusive owners with all animals, and all animals can bite. These bills punnish good owners to. Our government needs to stop removing the rights of citizens away. Shame on our government for even considering such a bill.

PLEASE VOTE NO! This bill's title implies that primates will be protected but the opposite may occur.
Responsible owners will be restricted to their current state & not be able to obtain adequate medical care.
The CDC indicates that there have been NO instances of disease transmissions by 'pet primates' in the United States - There is no public health risk!
This is due to proper medical care provided by responsible owners.
This country has become extremely mobile and travel between the states is an every day occurrence. Non-human primates in the care of responsible humans are not a threat and disease transmission should not be feared under current guidelines.
A vote against this bill will ensure that proper medical care will continue.

This forum states that the average cost per family is $.15 to implement this bill. Let's look at the bigger picture....the bill costs $4 million a year to enforce. In addition, the implementation costs have been estimated at $17 million. This is especially alarming given the difficulties in enforcement anticipated by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The bill does not address the humane treatment of primates, any need for improved public safety, or the fact that primates are non-predatory in the first place. Do we really want to spend this amount of money to prevent something that does not currently need preventing? My vote is 'No' to HR 2964.

Primates are animals just like canines or Felines, and no one seems to be battling about trafficking them. Soon enough primate population in the states will be in the tens of thousands and looked upon just as a dog or cat is now. Sorry that's just the way it is and no law will stop that.

Vote "No" to the CPSA. This act does nothing to promote safety, and doesn’t eliminate the sale of primates. These are not the monkeys that people feel should be "out swinging in the trees". It has been illegal to import primates from the wild for greater than the life of captive primates today. The only other choice for today’s captive primates is:no life at all. From what I have seen I have no doubt that these monkeys would choose life vs no life at all. There has never been a disease spread from a Pet Primate to a human. The risk of a bite is 1 in 38 million! Far less than dog bites. And that is just the point, if you own a dog or a cat I advise you to vote against this bill. It is pushed by organizations who feel it is cruel to own any pet. Birds may be added to the list next, then cats, then dogs. It is a fact admitted by these organizations. So if you truly love any type of animal, and you feel you should have rights as a US citizen, you also will vote "no" to this bill.

It is sad that our elected House members have time to debate/vote on this Act but will not bring a vote to the House floor concerning off-shore drilling. What a waste of taxpayer money and lack of priorities.

This bill is a WASTE of tax payer money, and a violation of our rights as Americans to own the animals of our choosing.
I have a capuchin monkey as a service companion. This bill would make it illeagle to travel with her and to take her to the closest primate vet that happens o be in another state. They have already passed a law against big cat owners. Now the rescues are full due to owners leaving their pets behind due to job location changes.
