For all the talk about supporting education, the reality is that the needs of many students are only being marginally met. In rural areas especially, support for teachers who have high achieving students would also serve to improve the quality of education available to all students in the classroom. Many of our best and brightest are relegated to merely average, unstimulating learning environments. We are wasting valuable national treasures when we fail to challenge and feed our brightest children throughout their elementary and secondary school years.
