I've written my senator twice and congress representative requesting a status on this bill. The first email to my senator went out a couple of weeks ago. To date I have not heard from either.

Get it together my government employees. Time to work for the people! I've paid your salary for nearly 40 years and made a pittance compared to your salary....

Hey president Obama, I voted for you! I have always voted for the Democrats. I consider myself a D**** good Democrat. If you even want to get re-elected or go down in history as a great president please do not continue to do what Georie Bush did and just ignore the poor working Americans who are in need. Make AIG pay us back!!! with their 3.5 billion dollar profit and take the unemployment tax away. We are all counting on you. Your federal college funding is great and maybe after we can educate some of these children who think they are republicans, we can turn them into Democrats because they will see for themselves. They will be able to see the light, but come on do what you promised so they dont keep thinking that their parents know all, and while they cannot pay their mortgages, they are still Republicans. They will realize from their education they are in fact really Democrats!!!! Show them what we are about, the poor, middle class Americans, not the rich like Fred....

We need the ecconomy to be better stimulated.Hey senators, ever waited in a cheese line after working and paying taxes all your lives? didnt think so,oh yeah there Georgy Bushes fans. They do not care just like he didnt.Never again do I want to have to live like I did in the eighties, having my school funding taken away,by Reagan and my waitress tips taxed even though I only made $2.01 per hour. while trying to go to college. Why dont you go through hard times like that Fred then we will see who you call lazy!...

This message goes out to Fred who called unemployed people like me a lazy ***. Dear one I have a college degree, have been working since I was thirteen, probably before your nasty *** was even born. I have worked for thirty years supporting and raising two children. I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth!! Maybe Your nasty*** needs more education, because even the fast food restaurants are not hiring. Do your homework and quit putiing down the paople in this country that are in need! And try to grow up while your at it!! Your job could be next. Or maybe your just a spoiled little rich kid that dont care about otheer human beings. Everyone I know on unemployment wants to work, you should be ashamed of yourself for making such an awful comment, Fred!!!...

Write your congressman and senators and ask them to please support this bill. It's a great bill and should be passed. Taxing UC is about as stupid as having a screen door on a submarine. The bill would cover the years 2008 and 2009. Call or write TODAY...

It is extremely hard to get hired as most companies in the hi-end luxury jewelry market are struggling and will hire before or after the holidays when the economy improves. They are laying people off, reducing hours and giving the people left the work of what used to be three people.I have sent out resumes and gone on many interviews and see the same companies offering the same jobs over the past year. Hopefully the new year will bring us to a better place and the cycle will be broken-Better service by better sales associates can only increase sales....

IL was approved for Tier II EB (extended benefits). I know for a fact that workers in Illinois, Puerto Rico, and South Carolina, who are currently receiving 13 weeks of Extended Benefits, could receive an additional 7 weeks (for 20 weeks total) with the enactment of a TUR trigger. Do we need to take action now and contact our elected officials, or have you heard any news about the enactment of TUR trigger already?...

well, just heard some potential good news, not sure if just rhetoric or not, don't think so, in that the IRS commissioner on CNN followed up from yesterdays national briefing explaining that IRS is willing and has ability to comprimise certain situations with people in possibly waiving balance dues if make partial payments and for those that live on bare necessities and lower incomes, thus not able to pay back total amount. I am praying that they will maybe just accept my $335 I mailed in out of the $735 being that I am living off of $576 per mth. from unemployment insurance....

well, bit the bullet and had to pay those taxes today, $262 to state and paid $335 out of $735 for federal, so imagine will definately get some letter in mail asking to arrange some type of payment plan over next month for $400 remaining balance, not good. Heard interest rate is 4 percent, anybody knows if that starts immediately from April 15th. Someone told me no penalty fee expected if owe less than $1,000....

Wonderful! Because of my severance and unemployment benefits for 2008, I was socked with a combined income tax balance due of $4,000. And, still without a job.

Of all the promises to break, it just had to be this one. Thanks Washington, for using us in your indignation and in platitudes of speeches, but in our hour of need you just were not there for us.

My heart goes out for those families who are staring at ghastly income tax bills through no fault of their own. This is a double-blow to job loss, foreclosure, cut hours, you name it. It will stall any recovery, mark my words.

God help this economy....

No money here yet in Ohio adn imagine for some reason will still be few weeks before it gets rolling in. Thanks to good old taxes from unemp. in '08, I owe back $897 in total.

Does anyone know under what cicrumstances 'on hold' or repayment options exist for hardship situations. Heard something exists and it is separate from the 120 days and the installment payment program....

I agree with the last post - we should be receiving additional 13 weeks on top of 59 weeks (that's people who have already exhausted EB at the end of March or will exhaust their EB in mid-April). In addition, if we will have 8% or more unemployment rate for 3 mo in a row, there'll be an additional 7 weeks. So far, we're little below 8%....

Why would the IUR be part of the 59? Those are already there for everyone...cmon people use your heads. The IUR triggered those of us who are at the end of the 2nd tier or the last of the 59 weeks for 13 extra weeks as long as we stay above the 5% IUR rate....

GOOD NEWS GEORGIA. I spoke to the Governor's Office this morning and was told that Governor Perdue has everything in place for the third tier EB benefits. They are just waiting for the DOL to update their computers to start sending out the funds. The DOL has until May 25 to do so if not before then. So Ga. hang in there help is on the way.
I think taxing unemployment is flat out crazy. I was about to lose my home when my mortgage payment kept rising First Franklin wouldn't work with me. Then I hired a firm www.proloanmods.com and I had to borrow their fee from my mom. 2 month's after that my mortgage is at a beautiful rate but then I got permanently laid off (I worked for circuit city) now my unemployment's taxed and I could really use that income I'm not saying it would pay my mortgage or anything but it would definitely help with the grocery bills and everything else while I go through this period of my life....
