I am watching the political greed gather round down here in the south. Churches and non profits qualifiying for designated money and making SBA loans for community development programs and then getting grants to pay off the SBA loan... and guess what! The preachers own the various companies "hired" by the churches and the non profits to do the work... so the money goes into the CEO's hands once again... this is so not right. It is really just about the same thing that happened with the AIG bailout and the CEO got all those bonuses... well how will OBAMA get the money back out of the preachers and owners of these non profit organizations hands... it was all in the bookkeeping and journal entries.. And the banks are going for it because they get benefited by the money going through thier banks!! It all becomes a scam of greed and doesn't address the NEED of the USA to become economically stable!...

The stimulus package appears to be an admiriable effort to boost the economy. However, I have heard nothing about compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which requires that the expenditure of Federal funds be tracked and reviewed to ensure that the fund are used in a nondiscriminatory manner. States receiving these funds should be held accountable under Title VI! Every entity that receives funds is responsible for establishing policies and procedures to ensure Title VI compliance. To my knowledge Tennessee is the only state that has addressed Title VI statewide and it has been in effect for 45 years. There is no better time than the present to come to a nationwide understanding of Civil Rights and comply with title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964!...

Thanks "a concerned citizen" I appreciate the vote! I just wish that the senators and the rest of them thought as highly of my idea as you and I do. It's so simple it's ridiculous maybe that's why no one has paid attention to it. They probably think I'm nuts or something but I really believe that would resolve a LOT of problems very quickly and with a LOT less debt to the taxpayers. Not to mention that NO elected official would dare vote against it....

What I dont understand about Congress and House passing a legislative Bill. They signed a contract without reading the contract. First law of any contractual business...first item we teach our children for business...do not sign your name unless you read and understand what you are signing!

Failure to read this Bill, allows Ameicans to call for " removal of the House and Congress" as they did not protect the people for which they were elected to do....

All my life I have tried to play by the rules. Now I have Lost half of my savings. I am strapped yet continue to meet my obligations. Now the US Government wants to take moe of what I have and give it to "those in greatest need." That would mean people that lived way beyond their means. Made bad decisions or cercumvennted the system. The government should put up a safety net for the most downtrodden by building homeless shelters and opening soup kitchens. Lessons need to be learned....

This plan will get the markets moving again, allowing us the taxpayers to help ourselves. Since taxpayers are going to foot the bill for stimulus packages, give every legal U.S citizen 25 years old and older old, one million dollars. It will solve all of the housing crises, loan defaults, foreclosures, joblessness, health insurance affordability, and homelessness. It will resolve the problems with the failing social security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and other failing government funded programs. People would draw money from an account from with a card that the government issues. You must provide a fingerprint in order to receive the funds and to identify yourself. To make things fair, give anyone that has a million dollars or more a million dollar tax credit. There are approximately 24.5 million millionaires in the U.S. There are approximately 308,000,000 people in the U.S currently. One American is born every 7 seconds, and one dies every 13 seconds...

With all the pork in this bill and the amount provided to increase jobs this spending bill is flawed and should be trashed. It would cost about 300K for each job produced. Just give 150K to qualified unemployed until it runs out.....cheaper and more fair. Stupid bill, stupid congressmen....

I just called Charles Rangel, Chairman of the House Committee on Ways and Means. I was able to speak to one of his staff and asked what the committee was doing for the long-term unemployed. I told him I have read H.R. 1 and all it does is move EUC tier 2 benefits from 3/09 to 12/09 and increases the benefit amount by $25 per week. It does nothing for over 3 million American who have lost their jobs and been unable to find work. If anyone wants to get mad please call or email this committee. I have posted the correct link or contact information. Although this employed person was sympathetic, currently those of us who have been hurt by this economy the longest are currently expendable surplus as part of this Stimulus Bill.

Mr. Spicoli! What is this fascination with truancy?

What is it that gets inside of your heads?

There are some teachers at this school who look the other way at truants. It's a little game you both play.

The teachers pretend they don't see you, and you pretend you don't ditch! Now, in the end, who pays the price?

The American taxpayer pays the price. Not the homeless. Not the welfare recipient. The taxpayer.

Well, we QUIT!!!...

"End the "War" on Drugs if you really want to save money" This was the most intelligent comment, I've seen on this page. I have to agree, but many people, including congressmen, don't know that Wall Street needs drug trafficking. Too little space to explain it here. The war on drugs, besides a means to tap into resources of other counties, it also makes a great front for getting the drugs in that they need, and keeping those who don't benefit the powers that be out, while at the same time adding to the lucrative privatized prison system. I cannot go into detail here, but we have Central and South America, but one that many people don't think about is Afghanistan. In 2001 US troops gnawed away at the Taliban, leaving the Northern Alliance to breath new life into the opium trade. When the Taliban took back control, this hurt Wall Street. $10 billion/wk over several years, isn't much off from the stimulus amount. Well, out of space....
