Please do NOT support or pass this bill. Primates can make exceptional companions when raised properly in captivity. When taking one into your home they become a part of your family, passing this bill will only hinder the responsible owners from taking care of them to the best of their abilities (such as needing to leave the state to go see your vet). Primates are no different then cats and dogs, they do give you even a higher level of companionship though, and stay around much longer. I personally own four primates, three Tamarins, and a Capuchin. My monkeys are in NO way dangerous, and do NOT carry diseases. Whoever thought that up is very wrong, as there has never been a disease transmission from a pet primate to their owner EVER! Although primates are a big responsibility and committment, many are willing to sacrifice their time with their beloved primate. Do not pass this bill, for it will be taking our rights away and will limit us from properly caring for our primates.
Thanks...

For the love of God, pass this bill. Primates aren't family, nor pets. They should be sent back to Africa or sent to a laboratory as drug test subjects so that the FDA would determine that the vaccines are safe or not before the deadly H1N1 season....

Please pass this bill. Non-human primates have no place as pets; they belong in the wild. What non-human primate is native to the United States? Not one! Non-human primates should not be forced to adapt to living in unnatural surroundings and non-native habitats, often isolated from their own species. Thank you to members of Congress who have already voted to pass this bill!

(Regarding this comment section: Why do many people who comment say things like “Aren’t there more important things, like ______ (fill in the blank—war, economy, etc.)? If this issue isn't that important then why did YOU bother to voice your opinion? Just wondering.)...

This is ridiculous - I agree with everyone else that they should be concentrating on other things.

The fact that this bill only comes up after the incident with Travis and it would never have stopped an incident like it - is proof that it is a waste of time and just hurting us good monkeys.

This is so stupid. Just one more way for the government to control our lives. We can have cats, dogs, lizards, snakes, and many others so why not primates. Yes maybe some laws need be made such as leash laws, but any responsible person would take care to ensure the saftey of others around them no matter if its a monkey or a dog. All this bill will do is ensure primates that do have homes, and families will be punished and mistreated. They are very loving and fascinating creatures, and i would say better companions than dogs. They are like children and need to be taken care of. What comes next are they gonna tell us we cant have kids or to leave your small child at home in a cage while you went somewhere because they cant act accordingly? I think the government has more pressing issues to take care of and needs to but out of our personal lives!!!!!!!...

A government that has just run up more than a trillion dollars in debt for ridiculous "pork" projects in a Stimulus Package that NO ONE read has no right to make laws restricting the ownership of beloved animals! How many of the Reps. and Senators have ever been around privately-owned primates? They have been brainswashed by the P{ETA crowd and others like them who are control freaks and care nothing for the animals. It's Socialism, folks, bordering on Communism, and the pathetic government wants to ban pets! From what we are told, the world is on the verge of financial collapse, we could any minute be attacked, the banks and industries are failing. People are losing their homes and jobs. Yet, a few primates are the TARGET? Utter nonsense by elected fools! How about going after the tens of millions of ILLEGAL ALIENS that commit crimes in record numbers, steal our jobs, suck 70 billion $$$ from our welfare, medical and educational systems each year?...
