My ex spouse died before he could even get any of his benefits. We were married twice to each other and I had to divorce him both times because of abuse and we never made it to ten years because of his abuse. We had two children. I had 3 children from previous marriage and he had 3 children from previous marriage. The children are all grown. I could not work much due to a large family, so my early retirement benefits were only $198 a month. I got food stamps. I have not been able to work since 2003 because of sickness and SS kept denying my application for disability. I am 65 now and will qualify for SSI, but I would get a lot more on my ex spouses social security. I would be able to live like a normal person. It would truly be a blessing.
