www.tbfriends.com (June 20, 2008).

Here you have it. Horse killers like cash. Money exchanges hands under the table so the the killers don't have to pay taxes and the IRS doesn't know how much money they really earn. But we know how much they earn by transporting double decker trailers every week. The answer is $60,000 a month....

WASHINGTON (AP) - "The Supreme Court has declined an appeal from the owners of a horse slaughtering plant who challenged an Illinois law prohibiting the killing of horses for human consumption.
Cavel International Inc. closed its plant in DeKalb, Ill., last year after a federal appeals court upheld the ban. The company urged the justices to step in to allow the facility to reopen. The court did not comment on its order Monday."...

The group also said the video showed evidence of the transportation of injured, blind and emaciated horses (including a horse with a tumor on its face and another with eye cancer) as well as the transportation of a very pregnant mare and the discovery of a full-term foal in a rendering pit that had been eviscerated by animals.

The group also alleges that the horses are not being provided food or water as they wait overnight in pens, are too densely packed and are being improperly stunned before they are killed."

DID YOU READ THE PART WHERE THE VERY PREGNANT MARE AND THE DISCOVERY OF THE FOAL THAT WAS EVISCERATED???? AND THE EMACIATED HORSES. AND THE CANCEROUS LESIONS ON THE HORSES?? AND THE LACK OF WATER, FOOD, OVERCROWDING, AND THE IMPROPER STUNNING???

"More shocking was film inside the kill pen, which appeared to show horses being tormented, struggling to regain their feet and being dragged out to be strung up to have their throats slit.

The CHDC says the industry has existed in Canada for years but has escalated since the recent closure of all U.S. horse-slaughter plants.

It says horse meat is shipped to Japan and parts of Europe, where it is popular among consumers. Ruby said policing the slaughter of horses is impossible and demanded the federal government intervene to ban the practice.

"It is shockingly inhumane," he said."

HORSE SLAUGHTER = MONEY

Kill buyers earn $60,000 a month by selling our horses to slaughter.

MONEY is the true driving force behind this predatory industry.

Call your senators and representative to pass S311 and HR 503. Don't let these cruel and heartless killers and backyard breeders kill anymore of our horses.

Make the call! End the monetary and predatory industry NOW.

The Supreme Court refused to hear Cavel's case to open a horse slaughter house in the US.

Do the right thing. Make the call to your senators and representative.

End the Larry Craig block by urging your senators to co-sponsor S311....

Cruelty to horses at Canadian horse slaughterhouse June 2008

See for yourself. This cruelty toward the horses is exactly the cruelty our horses endured when the horse slaughterhouses were operating in the United States.

Watch the video and don't be fooled by the animal rights nonsense that the pro-slaughter side talks about.

Horse slaughter is NOT humane euthanasia. Our horses do NOT deserve to be brutally and cruelly killed....

Horse slaughter is all about MONEY continued

"The demand for horsemeat creates a market where horse slaughter “kill buyers” compete with other people who want to buy horses. This encourages owners to supply that market through over-breeding horses, for example.” The study’s findings confirmed an earlier Italian study of horse meat consumption from 1995-2001."

These results prove that MONEY drives horse slaughter NOT the number of unwanted horses.

Call your senators and representative if they haven't become co-sponsors and URGE them to pass S311 and HR503....

Horse slaughter does NOT reduce the number of unwanted horses.

http://www.kaufmanzoning.net/horsemeat/AnimalLawCoalitionRelease061808.... />
Slaughter… is useless as a tool for controlling the unwanted horse population and instead simply creates a … market that competes with potential buyers of … horses and encourages a continuous supply.”

"John Holland, senior analyst for AAHS (Americans Against Horse Slaughter) explained further, “The trends are irrefutable. We found that equine abuse levels are clearly linked to economic conditions but that slaughter trends were antithetical to them for most of the study period. We now see that what drives horse slaughter is the market for horse meat in Europe and Asia. American horses are killed for their meat and not because they are unwanted or abandoned."...

The way to actually help is not sitting here and just talking about it; it is getting up and doing something about it. Even if this bill is passed it does not mean people will stop being irresponsible in breeding horses. I mean do you think that outlawing something is going to make it better? Oh and all of you that keep going on and on about the percentage of people wanting this bill passed check out the percentage of people that doesn’t want God taken out of our schools and the percentage that do.
If you go by a pasture that has cows being raised for human consumption look at them. Do you think they want to leave their lovely pasture to go to a slaughter house? Do you think that just because they are cows they want to be hauled around in cramped spaces? Stop harping on the fact that this bill should be passed and think of ways that will improve the way animals are slaughtered and the way animals are sold. I mean think of the way the Internet has been improved over the years it was not the B****ing and moaning that changed it; it was an actual person that made it happen....

For all of you that support this bill I would like to thank you. For all of you that don’t support it I want to thank you also. The basis of my opinion is that even if the animal was breed and raised for human consumption, it is completely the same as slaughtering a horse. You may not spend that much time with a cow, a chicken, or a lamb but you still took on the responsibility to raise it and take care of it. For the ones that do not eat horsemeat you do not have much to say because some of you eat other meat. For you to cut down the ones that do eat horsemeat, that is as wrong. Did you know that back in 1874 our ancestors killed poor defenseless horse’s on the basis that it gave the Native Americans more mobility? Yes we are Americans that should be better than this but we’re not so why B**** at everyone that doesn’t support your view when we all have freedom of speech?...

I put my old gelding down in October. That is what I needed to do for him. But, what about families who can not affort the $200 it cost to have a vet come out to put your horse down? Just stop the painful killing and don't worry about the animal after his pain of life is over. Some can not even eat enough to keep their body healthy, living is a horrible thing, put them down quickly, and do what ever with that body. Like our bodies, it is only a vessel of the soul, no more. Just make the death painless and don't worry if they go to feed someone(that is not a bad ending) or if they go to fertilize some land) I loved my gelding to pieces, but I loved his companionship, his attitude, and what joy we had together, his body was only housing him. Just make the end moments easy, and don't let disposing of the body harder that it should be....

Stop horse slaughter. I would only imagine what's going on in any animal's mind are the very same thoughts that go through the human murder victim prior to their death. Fear, smelling blood, hearing sounds of death, seeing the prior victim fall and flight to get away from the horror that they are facing…unable to escape. Slaughter/murder is the most atrocious ending to any animal/human's life, it takes an uncaring human being to carry out the task of killing these animals. Seems to me that they could be serial killers if they no longer got their pleasure out of murdering the animals. For a society that has supposedly evolved into civilized culture, mankind never seems to let go of his barbaric ways. I guess nothing is safe on this earth as long as mankind exists. I find it hard to understand how humans can be so cruel to the very creatures God has put in our hands to protect and provide care....
