I don't understand why two different issues are being lumped together, penalizing the veteran. #1. Retired pay is earned for longevitiy of service in the armed forces and is payed to the vet for completing 20 years of service.
#2. Disability Compensation is awarded to a veterean for a service connected disability incurred while in the service of his/her country.

In my minde these are two sepearate and distinctly different circumstances and should be treated as such....

I'm a 100 percent disabled vet. After 7 years of begging I finally received a surgery on my spine that has changed my life for the best. I had migraines almost daily, and guaranteed if I did any physical activity. I won't even get into the pain. VA doctors insisted for 7 years surgery on my damaged spine would do no good. Two days after a civilian they outsourced me to fixed me(after years of red tape and pleading), I felt better than I had since my injury. Its been three months and I feel like I could serve again if the Army would let me. I'm thankful the VA finally took care of me... but I can't understand why it took so long....

I support allowing all disabled whether during peacetime or Combat. The timing of when you are disabled doesn't make you any more and definitely not less than anyone else. I was disabled on active duty while awaiting to go back full time on Active Duty. I have twelve years combined service of activ and reserve. unemployability should be consiidered if allowing all those disabled is not considered. I am rated 100% Permanent by the VA. I have been rated 100% during my entire disability. I have been enlisted, an NCO for eight years and a commissioned officer at the time I was disabled...

After 13 years of service and a tour in Iraq I had open heart surgery and was plced on TDRL with a rating of 30%. I have been fighting Headquaters Marine Corp since 2005 to keep that. If I am not world wide deployable how can they say I am a 0% rating. All I want is to be retired from an Organization that I devoted my life to from 1992 to 2005. I feel I deserve to be retired. I have a family of 4 and am doing everything in my power to provide for them. We all need to put the preassure on congress to pass this bill....

I have been disabled since 1975 in a non combat related injury. I have given up my Navy retired pay to draw the Va disability compensation for 100% disability rating. I am no drawing Social Security Disability because I can no longer work in my new work field. I am still waiting to be able to draw my Navy retired pay that my disability serving my country entitled me to. Chapter 61 disabled veteran for over 33 years....

Like many of you I am frustrated with the sub standard care forced upon us through the VA. I can only hope our politicians would watse the remaing time of thier lives begging for compensation for service to our Country. I would love to give my lousy 40% tax break on my retirement back to the VA stuffed sidways where the sun dont shine just to have a chance to finish my life wishing I could just be healty. I am ashamed to say I am a disabled American Vet. The system that was created is more than unfair, it has taken away my pride in stating I retired from the most powerful Military on our planet....

This is the same thing as a disability payment anywhere. If you are injured on the job we don't just kick you to the curb. People who put their lives on the line for others should be compensated as medical retirees as well as with disability payments. There should also be a floor of $35000.00 in oder for them to be able to live at a minimally comfortable level in the richest nation on God's green earth....

My husband was injured and medically retired due to medical malpractice by an Air Force doctor after returning from Iraq. He was planning on going Special Forces in the fall and finish out his 20+ years in the service.
Then we find out we can't sue for medical malpractice because of the Feres Doctrine.
Then we find out he doesn't get his retired pay and his VA....Like we were told he would be paid like a 20 year vet.
So now we get our 80% plus unemployability from VA but nothing else. My husband lost complete use of his arm, has severe PTSD and will probably never be able to go back to work.
PLEASE....PLEASE...do everything you can to get this bill or one like it passed!!!!!! My husband...our family...and all medically retired veterans deserve this....no matter if they served 6 months or 30 years...if they fought for this country and lost pieces of themselves because of it...they deserve to be paid their worth!!!!!!!!!!...

At 16yrs and 9 months I enlisted for 4yrs active 2yrs reserve thinking career at that time. Four days after turning 17 I was in boot camp, at 18 I was on hill A1 north of Quang Tri and wounded while on combat patrol. At18 and 6 months I was medicaly retired form Philadelphia Naval Hospital with so called full retirement benefits at 30%. The VA rated me at 100% from the day of retirement,CRSC would be a welcome benefit and I for one strongly beleive earned by 20yr and chapter 61 retirees....

I, a disabled vet like so many others, feel that this bill should pass. My father, father-n-law, and I, have served this great country for 20 years plus each in the U.S. Army and all came out disabled. It is truley a shame that many others do not support this bill, though it may not be alot of money for some, it may be all that they after defending others....
