What liberals call fair is what everyone else calls socialist. They don't like the fact right-wing opinions dominate the radio waves. They want to take time away from the hosts and redistribute it to other hosts and guests that aren't talented enough to get their own show. It's not like these are biased news broadcasts. It's entertainment, it's commentary. If you don't like what they're saying then call the show or turn off your radio....

The "Fairness Doctrine" is nothing short of compelled speech. This forced speech also serves to deter broadcasters from using their outlet for their own preferred speech. So you have two sides of the same anti-free speech coin: Compelled speech and barriers to free expression. This bill will prevent the FCC from reenacting the "Fairness Doctrine" and inserting government into the press. If you support free speech, support HR 2905....

Just because the left has failed to excite an audience over radio, this is their attack against conservative talk, which is quite popular.

Preserve the first ammendment. Both sides are allowed to say whatever they want-- but americans should not be forced to listen to what someone says is fair....

For those who support the fairness doctrine, consider this. Who defines fair? Would you want it to be someone Dick Cheney appointed? We're all grown ups, lets use our own judgment to decide who's being fair and balanced. The government can't be trusted with this sort of responsibility. This FD bill is neither liberal nor conservative, it is a recipe for disaster....

FCC wants to control "real" Christian Show, but it can air shows that promote deragotory sexual content. Those christians pay a lot of money to air those shows just as well as other. If anything we need to control like someone said earlier indcent, and incest and child sex inducement. We need christian shows because they and their prayers keep from unleashing the worst sin. This world is coming to an end, and those things that are not of God will look good, and those things that are good will look bad to the world. They can try, but real men and women of God will proclaim Jesus name and all that The CRoss has done for this wicked world Jesus died for. You may not like what I am saying but a person's unbelief does not change God. He is who he says He is, whether a person decideds to believe or not....

"Fairness Doctrine?" Hmmm, since when is an imposed contrary view at the broadcasters expense fair? Never. So, let's get rid of the falsely titled Fairness Doctrine once and for all. If I want to listen to liberal points of view all I have to do is turn on the tv/cable and watch ABC, NBC, CBS and/or listen to NPR and other out in left field stations. They're out of touch with mainstream conservative America....

The citizens of the United States need to take a stand against giving away all the rights the founding fathers fought to give us. This is just one more example of the government trying to pass laws that take away our rights as Americans. Because of a few, the majority are punished here...this is wrong. The majority wants to maintain our right to listen to what we want to hear and not have to give voice to others that want to discredit us and try to push their opinions down our throats. And then to make us pay for it! This is an important issue to take a stand again....

Pelosi is for this then one has no further to look than her agenda for her constituents. One would think that this cold war Orwellian law would have been abolished completely so that it would never see the light of day ever again. Reagan who was an excellent president stoped this back in the 80's. This bill was originally devised to smoke out communists in the 60's. Well I am happy to say we already know who our communists are today. The democratic party. So we no longer need this "Fairness (2nd amendment abolisher) doctrine"....

Yes, we should be careful who we vote for. The Fairness doctrine is not fair, for either side of the fence. But throughout history it has always been easier to silence opposition by forcing them to defend themselves, wasting the money they have been given by the generous hearts of the taxpayers. Now that we have a voice that is getting stronger, the liberals want to silence it again by re-instating an old piece of legislation that had already been silenced....

The so-called 'Fairness Doctrine' is an attempt by the far-left to hush talk radio, ie Limbaugh, Hannity, Reagan, etc. Furthermore, the FD is a clandestine attempt by the far-left to extinguish Christian TV and radio. Imagine 10-15 years down the road, someone in the FCC deems Christian TV/radio as a controversial political issue(not too hard to imagine it) and a counter anti-christian message has to be presented. 1. Contact your Senators/US Rep and tell them vote for S.1748 and H.R. 2905, deemed THe Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2007. 2. Get out and vote. 3. check out this website: www.ACLJ.ORG to get more info....

This is a very important legislation. The "Fairness" Doctrine is anything but & must be stopped forever because it FORCES broadcasters to aire material, AT THEIR OWN EXPENSE, even if they cannot sell advertising to support it & ratings are 0.

Our taxes support Public Broadcasting System & National Public Radio.

Our taxes are not given to other broadcasters. If they don't take Tax Payer money then the govt cannot tell them they have to carry "equal/fair" broadcasts.

Do you really think PBS/NPR will start broadcasting conservative or Christian programs?

Do you think PBS/NPR will stop broadcasting shows promoting unpopular beliefs/interests?

If your view is unpopular, there's a reason. You cannot force people listen to your unpopular view. To do so is a communist tactic....

Wow... talk about a piece of legislation with an ironic title. So while the FCC is more than welcome to fine broadcasters when it airs "indecent" or "obscene" material, it CAN NOT ask for equal time to present multiple sides of an issue? I'm not for the Fairness Doctrine--but I am against the FCC's wanton violations of the First Amendment in the name of "protecting children". I think anyone who argues for the Fairness Doctrine must also be for the FCC's ability to fine broadcasters, while anyone who argues against the Fairness Doctrine must likewise argue against the FCC's ability to fine. You'll rarely find anyone supporting both--it's entirely one or the other. And all are hypocrites who do....

The Fairness Doctrine was a United States FCC regulation requiring broadcast licensees to present controversial issues of public importance in an honest, equitable and balanced manner.
Combine the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine with the emergence of the Murdoch/Clear Channel/Sinclair media monopoly and you have the makings of an immense propaganda machine. When Fox news pays its reporters to lie about a news story that would hurt one of its advertisers and our courts uphold their right to lie, we are in serious trouble. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axU9ngbTxKw...
