I wonder how much the moonbats will increase the federal income tax to fund the unwarranted Gestapo-style door-to-door searches in order to confiscate the innumerable amount of (currently) legally owned "high capacity" mags out there? Hmmm, the mind boggles. Orwellian gun control and monumental tax increases in one shot? Surely this is any Democrats dream come true!...

This is NOT just a mag bill. It also provides "assault rifle" definition and a 10 year felony for transfer of an "assault rifle" with high cap mag.

I hope they pass it. Best chance for Thompson for prez 08.

Someone should do a survey on firearms, mags, and ammo dealers as to how much business has increased since her bills introduction....

Trying to get another ban on magazines (for all the liberals and misinformed gun-grabbers they are not clips)is a another patellar reflex to a problem that doesn't exist.

When are you people giong to get it straight? If you limit the capacity to 10 rounds, there will be no difference between the guy who goes into a target rich environment (gun-free zone) with six 10 round magazines, as opposed to four 15 round magazines.

This is worthless legislation and it will do absolutely nothing to stop madmen from killing innocent people where guns are not allowed to be carried by law abiding citizens.

If anyone needs psychiatric help it is the gun grabbers and the liberals....

I dont get it. How would this new law have prevented the VTECH killings? From what I have seen and read after the first shot everyone was scrambling for cover. That whack job could have stood there with a single shot .22 rifle and still killed as many people! After he shot the first person I doubt anyone was ready to confront him regardless of the type of gun or how many bullets were in it. Who the heck is going to sit around and watch for him to re-load so they can attack him? Like the old west where the good guy counts off 6 shots then rushes the bad guy. RIGHT...LIKE THAT WOULD HAPPEN.

There seems to be one common denominator in all of these tragic events. Unarmed victims....

McCarthy is like a Flat-Earther. No matter how much evidence is presented to the contrary, she continues to insist gun & magazine bans are the answer. She introduces one placeboic anti-gun bill after another in hopes that one will stick, using the the bodies of the unarmed murder victims to further her cause. She is below contempt....

I agree fully with several of the posters above that this is a politician using a tragedy to push a misguided agenda. If it would work, it would have worked before when it was tried. If it had merit, it would not need the emotion of the moment for it to be embraced and would be able to survive a rational, critical eye of calmer times....

I find it ironic that yesterday April 19th in 1775 in Lexington, MA, the British Army marched into town and demanded that the citizens militia throw down their arms and leave. Somewhere during this confrontation a shot was fired and so began the revolution for independence.

Yet now 232 years later is not some foreign power demanding us to lay down our arms but the very goverment that was formed to protect this nation and our rights....

I have yet to see any so called gun control bill that would reduce criminal action. How dare...how DARE anyone strip the rights of law abiding citizens in order to satisfy a greedy politician's thirst to gain a glimmer of fame. I have used firearms with hi capacity magazines to defend myself and others (while protecting myself in a robbery in my store, and to stop a criminal from killing a man in a public restroom after robbing him)
The main objective of the Constituional right, is to keep us on a level playing field with a potentially tyranical government, and I refuse to budge an inch on the issue....

For any of those Congressional staffers who may be reviewing this to advise their bosses, please let them know that all McCarthy is doing is stirring up a hornet's nest of voters who WILL remember who votes for what next November. McCarthy, Pelosi, Schumer, and their ilk are doing more to get both houses AND the White House OUT of Democratic hands than all of George Bush's misguided war has done to help them over the past 5 years. We ARE watching very closely, and we will remember next November. So when the vote comes up on this, ask yourselves this- what part of "shall not be infringed" is unclear?...

HR 1859 is a repeat of something that failed the first time around, in the apparent belief that if some was completely ineffective, more will work better. Only this time, the list is being expanded to include virtually anything with a trigger and a barrel.

Please, stop insulting our intelligence by pretending this is about crime. It has never been about crime. We all know criminals will always be able to obtain guns illegally. The only people who obey gun control laws are the ones who don't commit crimes in the first place. Why on earth do people persist in thinking that a violent criminal who thinks nothing of violating laws that prohibits him from committing mass murder, will obey a law that prohibits him from obtaining a gun to commit it with?

This is the true irony of gun control -- if it WORKED, there would be no need for it....
